Advanced Drainage Systems Unveils Major Expansion of Recycling Facility in Georgia

Advanced Drainage Systems Expands Facility in Cordele, Georgia

In a significant move towards enhancing sustainability in water management, Advanced Drainage Systems, Inc. (ADS) recently held a groundbreaking ceremony for an expansive recycling facility in Cordele, Georgia. This $30 million project aims to bolster the company’s commitment to recycling and innovation in the stormwater and onsite septic wastewater industries.

The newly expanded facility is expected to cover a total area of 117,000 square feet. This increase in size will allow ADS to improve its production capabilities and offer high-quality recycled materials to various manufacturing plants across the Southeast. These efforts play a crucial role in ensuring that recycled plastic is turned into durable products like pipes and chambers used in various applications from agriculture to infrastructure.

Scott Barbour, ADS President and CEO, expressed his enthusiasm about the expansion, stating, "This state-of-the-art facility will leverage exceptional talent and cutting-edge material capabilities to enhance our recycled plastic production." He emphasized the strategic significance of the Cordele location, which is a thriving economic hub that enhances the company’s logistics efficiency for manufacturing and transporting recycled materials.

Employment Opportunities and Local Impact

The expansion of the recycling facility is not only about enhancing production capabilities; it also promises to generate local employment opportunities. As many as 50 new jobs are expected to be created, contributing to the local economy and providing new career paths for residents in the area. Kristen Rinehart, Vice President and General Manager of Recycling for ADS, highlighted the longstanding commitment of the company to the Cordele community, stating, "For over 20 years, the dedicated ADS Recycling employees in Cordele have made this location one of the top ADS performers in the nation."

Moreover, with the expanded facility, ADS plans to optimize its material blending programs which are instrumental in transforming recycled plastics into valuable products. The company currently processes both post-industrial and post-consumer recycled plastics, thus playing a vital role in reducing landfill waste and promoting a circular economy.

Collaboration and Future Outlook

The successful development of the recycling facility was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Cordele-Crisp County Industrial Development Council, Crisp County Commissioners, and the Georgia Department of Economic Development. The Crisp County Power Commission is also involved in this expansion by outfitting the facility with the necessary transformers to support its production capabilities.

Advanced Drainage Systems is recognized as one of North America's largest recycling companies, with a commitment to ensuring that over 500 million pounds of plastic are diverted from landfills annually. Founded in 1966, ADS has established itself as a leader in the industry through its innovative products designed to last for decades, thereby managing one of the world’s most precious resources—water.

Through the expansion of its Cordele facility, ADS aims to strengthen its efforts in recycling and sustainability, solidifying its position as a leader in innovative water management solutions. For more information on ADS and its initiatives, please visit their website at www.adspipe.com.
