MetLife's Heartwarming Initiatives Bringing Joy to Children and the Elderly This Christmas Season

Heartwarming Initiatives by MetLife

As the festive season approaches, MetLife Life Insurance, under the leadership of CEO Dirk Osteen, has launched an inspiring initiative dedicated to bringing smiles and warmth to children and the elderly across Japan. This program not only embodies the spirit of Christmas but also reflects MetLife's commitment to social responsibility and community engagement.

Bringing Joy to Children and Comfort to the Elderly

In collaboration with the Nippon Foundation, MetLife has been operating this initiative since 2021, focusing on providing support to various underprivileged groups. This year, the company targeted ten elder hospices located throughout Kanto, Kansai, Tohoku, and Kyushu regions, as well as two children’s facilities referred to as “third places” for children facing challenging circumstances in Kiyose City, Tokyo, and Unzen City, Nagasaki.

To bring comfort during the cold winter months, approximately 100 blankets were donated to elder hospices, ensuring that residents can experience warmth and care. Additionally, MetLife contributed around 500 gift packages, which included candies, picture books, and towels, to support 11 children’s support facilities and child-rearing support bases nationwide.

Enriching Lives Through Music

Part of the initiative also featured mini classical live performances by professional musicians, where children had the opportunity to experience the joy of music. These performances not only entertained but also enriched the hearts of the participating children, making the season memorable for them.

Moreover, employee volunteers from MetLife played a crucial role in supporting the organization of some events, further enhancing the sense of community engagement and connection. Their active participation illustrates MetLife’s dedication not just to providing financial support, but also to fostering real-world interactions and relationships within the communities they serve.

A Commitment to Building a Better Future

MetLife Japan's guiding philosophy, “Walking Together Towards a More Certain Future,” underscores its continuous commitment to serve and walk alongside local communities. The company aims to enable individuals to live life on their terms, ensuring that support reaches those who need it most. By combining efforts with various organizations and volunteers, they seek to enhance the well-being of people across Japan.
