The VOCALOID Collection: A Summer Event of Creativity and Community

The VOCALOID Collection ~2025 Summer~: Celebrating Vocaloid Culture

From August 21 to 25, 2025, the largest online Vocaloid event, The VOCALOID Collection ~2025 Summer~, was held, attracting an impressive viewership of 240,000 and featuring over 7,000 submitted works. Hosted by Dwango Inc., headquartered in Chūō, Tokyo, this year marked the 10th anniversary of the festival, which has grown into a significant celebration of Vocaloid culture.

A Milestone in Vocaloid Community

This event, designed to advance Vocaloid culture, is a notable spinoff from the Niconico Net Super Conference. Its record-breaking participation signifies the community's passion and creativity. Attendees had the chance to witness a vast array of performances and collaborations, thanks to the participation of 40 artists, including well-known names like *DECO27, Chinozo, and Saho Haraguchi. These artists contributed various resources, including Stem data and curated playlists, adding tremendous value to the event.

The festival showcased a variety of initiatives, including popular projects like
“Kaminari no Kabocha!” (Godsend Pumpkin!) and a collaborative venture known as VocaSeca with Project Sekai. More information on this collaboration can be found on their official website.

The Exciting Competition: VocaRanking

One of the highlights was the
VocaRanking, where popular Vocaloid producers and creators vied to produce and submit their works across three categories: TOP100, Rookie, and Remix. The ultimate winners included:
  • - TOP100*: “Maku wo Orosou, Parade e” by Kaicha
  • - Rookie: “Ribbon/sabio feat. KineTeto” by sabio
  • - Remix: “∴Children Record -NiruKajitsu Remix” by NiruKajitsu*

The winners from both TOP100 and Rookie categories were invited to have their music videos featured in the upcoming YouTube Music Weekend on August 30, which will present a new segment titled VocaNova Presented by The VOCALOID Collection. Details can be accessed on their VocaNova page.

A New Opportunity: VocaExhibition

Introduced this year, the VocaExhibition category allowed around 1,000 submissions that were not subject to competition, providing a platform for creators to freely share their works. This division was a hit, encouraging collaboration between creators and fans. The last five days of August turned out to be an exhilarating experience for all involved, bursting with Vocaloid-inspired creativity.

The original and remix songs enrolled in the VocaRanking are also eligible for various upcoming initiatives, such as the VocaSeca and a collaboration with Sanrio's Maimaimaitokoen, known as the Remix Work Submission Festival. Results for these submissions will be announced in due course. Moreover, high-ranking tracks are poised for airplay across media partners’ shows, featuring special events such as guest appearances by creators and integrating themes into program songs.

Looking Ahead: Future Plans

Excitingly, Dwango has already announced plans for The VOCALOID Collection ~2026 Winter~, set to take place in February 2026. This move underscores the continuous growth and evolution of Vocaloid culture and its community.
