Plamondon Hospitality Partners Secures Vital Land in Frederick
Plamondon Hospitality Partners has recently achieved a significant milestone by acquiring a crucial parcel of land in Downtown Frederick, Maryland, which will serve as the foundation for their upcoming hotel and conference center. This acquisition is not just a simple real estate transaction; it symbolizes a pivotal step towards realizing the company’s vision for a full-service facility that promises to enhance the area’s hospitality offerings.
The land acquisition was finalized on June 12, 2025, and allows the Frederick-based hospitality group to commence construction later this year. According to Peter Plamondon, Jr., Co-President of Plamondon Hospitality Partners, "This purchase represents more than just land—it's the final piece needed to move from planning into action. We appreciate the Randall family for their significant support in helping us reach this point."
Previously owned by the Randall family, this land is part of a larger site identified in 2012 through a competitive Request for Proposals (RFP) issued by the City of Frederick for the development of a public-private hotel and conference center. Over the years, the project has navigated complex requirements involving both local and state leaders.
Jeff Plamondon, the director of real estate and business development, stated, "Owning the land unlocks the next critical milestone of groundbreaking. We are deeply grateful to our State, County, and City partners involved for their steadfast belief in the potential of this hotel and conference center for the region."
The comprehensive site plan includes the restoration of the historic Trolley Building and the repurposing of the Eagles Building. However, the newly purchased land does not encompass these existing structures, which remain under the management of the Randall family. The Trolley Building, located at 200 E. Patrick Street, is being transformed into a mixed-use commercial space and is expected to be completed by 2026. In parallel, the Eagles Building at 216 E. Patrick Street will be revitalized as The Banyan, featuring a restaurant, event venue, and rooftop bar. The land acquired by Plamondon will provide the necessary footprint for the hotel and conference center, thereby integrating seamlessly into the broader redevelopment initiative.
William Randall, President of Randall CAP, shared, "The Randall family has held portions of the property at 200 E. Patrick Street for 208 years. We are excited that this area can now participate in such an exciting redevelopment project. Plamondon Hospitality Partners and my family are collaborating closely with public officials across all levels to ensure this endeavor fulfills its promise and contributes meaningfully to the ongoing growth and evolution of Downtown Frederick."
Once constructed, the hotel and conference center will address a critical gap in Frederick's hospitality and event infrastructure. It will offer much-needed, high-quality spaces for conferences, weddings, conventions, and corporate gatherings, all complete with on-site overnight accommodations.
Peter Plamondon emphasized, "This project is about providing a service that is currently not available in Frederick. The hotel and conference center will profoundly impact the city, county, and surrounding region—this is why leaders at all levels have chosen to invest in the project. Acquiring the land removes the last significant barrier for moving forward and positions us to realize this shared vision."
