Tsunan Brewery Showcases Sake's Global Potential at JFEX SUMMER 2025
From July 9 to 11, 2025, Tsunan Brewery participated in the JFEX SUMMER (6th International Food & Beverage Business Meeting Week), held at Tokyo Big Sight. The event attracted a myriad of domestic and international buyers, providing a valuable opportunity for Tsunan Brewery to engage in discussions and networking.
At this exhibition, numerous industry professionals from various countries, especially those in Asia, visited Tsunan Brewery's booth to taste the products firsthand. A standout was the 'GO GRANDCLASS Uonuma Koshihikari Edition', which utilizes Japan's premier rice, Uonuma Koshihikari. This sake impressed visitors with its rich umami flavor that sets it apart from traditional Japanese sake, earning praise for its purity and clean finish. Many noted that this flavor profile is particularly approachable for newcomers to sake and the overseas market.
Tsunan Brewery offers this terroir-driven sake in various packaging options, including convenient pouches, further catering to modern consumer preferences.
Additionally, the 'PIN Bottle' series, which includes GO DINER, GO DOLCE, and GO VINO, represents a fresh approach to sake. With its appealing designs highly suited for social media and its re-capable functionality, this line has garnered attention particularly from younger consumers and restaurants. One of its slogans, “Cute sake goes on a trip,” emphasizes the playful nature of these products. The 'GO DINER' from the PIN Bottle series also recently won a gold medal in the IWC2025 Junmai Daiginjo category, highlighting its quality.
Moreover, Tsunan Brewery showcased its collaboration products, including the 'SAISEI Regenerative Supplement', and highlighted the innovative 'SAKESOME', which entails nano-particles derived from sake. These products drew considerable interest from health-conscious attendees, underscoring the brewery's commitment to exploring new dimensions of sake's application.
This participation allowed Tsunan Brewery to share its vision of a sake that meets contemporary needs and investigate the potential for upcycling sake products with a broader audience across different regions. The company's goal is to continue innovating while staying rooted in tradition. They aim to deepen collaborations with domestic and international partners to promote the unique allure of ‘Tsunan-origin’ sake worldwide.
The Sake Upcycle Project
Tsunan Brewery's Sake Upcycle Project focuses on utilizing sake's byproducts, primarily sake lees, to innovate beyond traditional food applications. This initiative involves developing semiconductor technology using carbon materials derived from sake lees, researching the application of the sake-derived nano-particle ‘SAKESOME’, and exploring cell-cultured food production (cultured meat) using materials sourced from sake manufacturing. Tsunan Brewery strives to create innovations that merge traditional practices with cutting-edge technology across diverse fields, promoting a circular economy centered around sake lees.
