Kishi Bashi to Bring Genre-Defying Performance to SilverVox Film + Music Festival

Kishi Bashi to Perform at SilverVox Film + Music Festival

The excitement surrounding the inaugural SilverVox Film + Music Festival is palpable, especially with the latest announcement regarding its music lineup. Kishi Bashi, a multi-talented artist known for transcending genres, will be joining the festival's impressive roster. The festival, which runs from June 18-21, 2026, promises a buzz of creative energy throughout the charming City of Frederick, Maryland.

About Kishi Bashi

Kishi Bashi, born Kaoru Ishibashi in Seattle, is an Emmy-nominated singer, songwriter, violinist, and filmmaker. His musical journey began at the Berklee College of Music, and over the past ten years, he has cultivated a diverse discography that resists categorization. His work includes everything from lush chamber pop to intricate narratives addressing social issues. Notably, his album Omoiyari offers a poignant exploration of the Japanese American internment, earning a documentary feature acquired by MTV and Paramount+.

Kishi's artistry is defined by a unique approach to live performance. Using a combination of violin, loop pedals, beatboxing, and keyboards, he constructs immersive sonic landscapes that evolve in real-time. His concerts are more than entertainment; they are transformative experiences that engage the audience in a shared journey through music. The anticipation surrounding his performance at SilverVox is a testament to his powerful presence on stage.

A Festival Celebration

Kishi Bashi will not be the only artist gracing the SilverVox stage. The festival aims to spotlight a mix of independent films and live music, featuring 125 film premieres, panel discussions with filmmakers, and Q&A sessions designed to enrich the audience experience. Alongside Kishi Bashi, the festival will also showcase acts like indie-band CULTS and the director of Strange Journey—The Story of Rocky Horror, Linus O'Brien, adding further excitement to an already dynamic lineup.

Dan Silver, Head of Music for SilverVox, expressed the festival’s mission perfectly: “Kishi Bashi is exactly the kind of artist this festival exists to celebrate. He builds entire worlds out of a single instrument, and no two performances are ever the same.
