Jet Logistics Successfully Facilitates Medical Patient Transport From South Korea to California

Jet Logistics Facilitates Successful Patient Repatriation

In a remarkable display of operational efficiency and compassion, Jet Logistics, Inc. has successfully completed the repatriation of a U.S. citizen from Osan, South Korea, to a major medical facility in California. This commendable initiative showcases the diligent collaboration between Jet Logistics, an FAA-certified air carrier, and AirEMS, a prominent air ambulance service provider accredited by CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport Systems).

Mission Overview

The mission began at the Jet Logistics base located at Phoenix-Goodyear Airport in Arizona. The flight had an ambitious route involving a series of refueling stops including Boeing Field in Seattle, Washington, Cold Bay and Adak Island in Alaska, and New Chitose Airport in Japan before landing at Osan Air Base. A dedicated medical team from AirEMS, comprising a physician, registered nurse, and critical care paramedic, was on board to ensure comprehensive care throughout the journey.

Journey and Care Details

As reported, this challenging yet vital operation covered an exhaustive distance of 13,099 statute miles over a span of approximately 31 hours and 5 minutes, encapsulating 10 total stops. After the patient was successfully boarded at Osan Air Base, the aircraft made its way back, retracing some of its route with refueling at various points – landing back in California where medical care could continue. The entirety of this endeavor not only emphasized logistical precision but also the commitment to patient welfare.

Captain W. Ashley Smith Jr., who directed the operation, spoke highly of the Hawker 800XP aircraft's capabilities. He remarked on how the aircraft’s attributes of reliability and comfort significantly contributed to executing the mission within a minimal timeframe while facilitating a conducive environment for the medical team and enhancing overall operational performance. Smith stated, “Our Hawker's range, reliability, and comfort allowed us to complete this mission in minimum time…”

Pride in Service

Angela Hall, president of AirEMS, also echoed sentiments of pride and honor surrounding the mission, emphasizing her commitment to supporting those who serve in the military. Hall expressed, “The logistics of a transport from this region were challenging; however, the honor of ensuring this patient reached a higher level of care… provided added motivation…” Her drive to uphold the standards of care for servicemembers and their families aligns with AirEMS's mission and operating principles.
