Sora of Tokyo, the brand
Letra has been dedicated to bringing the charm of Mexican handicrafts to Japan for the past decade. With a decade of experience under its belt, Letra has evolved its offerings to include uniquely designed items that seamlessly merge ancient techniques with modern aesthetics.
A Journey of Ten Years
The creation of Paloma marks a significant milestone in Letra's journey, which began with a fascination with the colorful streets and rich traditions of Mexico. Over the years, Letra has curated an impressive selection of traditional Mexican crafts, enhancing their designs to resonate with Japanese sensibilities. This evolution has led to the birth of Paloma, which aims to redefine the concept of market bags.
As the understanding of “Mercado Bags” grew in Japan, so too did their popularity as fashion accessories. Letra witnessed an explosive growth in demand for these bags—inventory surged from just
1,200 bags in 2015 to an astounding
35,000 bags in 2024. This growth is not just a reflection of changing consumer trends in Japan; it's also a testament to the thriving Mexican artisan community, showcasing the positive impact of international collaboration.
