Innovative English Conversation Experience at Osaka Expo Unveiled with Brainwave Measurement Technology

Unveiling New Horizons in Language Learning at Osaka Expo

The recent Osaka Expo has emerged as a platform for groundbreaking approaches to education, particularly in language acquisition. From August 14 to 19, 2025, Shinhodo Co., Ltd., based in Tokyo, showcased their innovative booth at the "Connecting Myself with the Future Science Exhibition," co-hosted with Osaka University's Industrial Science Research Institute.

A Unique Educational Experience

Under the mission "Enriching Human Experience through Education", Shinhodo's exhibit focused on intertwining brainwave analysis with English conversation. Visitors were invited to participate in a unique interactive experience that featured four thematic zones: "Connecting with Myself", "Connecting with Others", "Connecting with Society", and "Connecting with the Earth". Shinhodo's emphasis was on the "Connecting with Myself" zone, where participants engaged in a brainwave analysis tailored to enhance their English conversation skills.

Event Details

  • - Name: Connecting Myself with the Future Science Exhibition
  • - Date: August 14, 2025 - August 19, 2025
  • - Venue: Osaka Expo Site, Yumeshima / EXPO Messe "WASSE" North
  • - Exhibitors: Osaka University Industrial Science Research Institute × Shinhodo Joint Booth (Utilizing Brainwave Measurement for English Conversation)

Participation Outcomes

The booth witnessed impressive attendance with a total of 533 participants engaging with the interactive sessions. The average number of exchanges per session was measured at 10.3, with an average communication duration of 67.6 seconds per session. Each interaction was designed to automatically conclude after 90 seconds, emphasizing the experience-based learning approach that Shinhodo advocates.

Innovative Learning Tools

The AI-driven educational tools featured in this booth allowed participants to engage in brief yet meaningful dialogues through a fast-paced "dialogue mission" format. This setup involved alternating between 10 seconds of black screen to set the context, followed by 90 seconds of real-time English conversation practice. Combined with brainwave monitoring capabilities, this framework enabled participants to gauge their mental states during both focused and relaxed phases of learning.

  • - Features of the Educational Tools:
- Sprint-format dialogue materials automatically segmented after 90 seconds
- Average of 10.3 exchanges, facilitating sustained conversational practice
- Designed for ease of access, providing a sense of achievement even for beginners

Voices from the Participants

Feedback gathered from attendees illustrated the booth's impact:
  • - A female participant in her 30s shared, "Experiencing my brainwave status was enlightening. During conversations in English, I struggled to express what I wanted to say immediately."
  • - Another participant in her 20s expressed, "The 90 seconds made it manageable. I was surprised at how engaging the conversation turned out to be!"
  • - A male in his 30s commented, "Since it was not just simple Q&A, I felt more engaged. I found the practical engagement refreshing enough that I’d like to incorporate it even without the brainwave measurement!"
  • - A mother shared her joy watching her children enjoy the experience, stating, "Even with limited English, it was rewarding to let them see their brainwaves."

The Road Ahead

Building on the insights from the Expo, Shinhodo aims to enhance its sprint-format AI English conversation programs, targeting deeper learning experiences through ongoing development.
