Women in CyberSecurity and ISC2 Launch Fall Camp for Aspiring Cybersecurity Professionals
WiCyS and ISC2 Launch Fall Camp for Cybersecurity Certification
On September 17, 2025, Women in CyberSecurity (WiCyS) announced their partnership with ISC2 to kick off the WiCyS + ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity Certification Fall Camp. This initiative targets the growing need for cybersecurity professionals, particularly women and underrepresented groups, who currently only represent about a quarter of the global cybersecurity workforce. With a staggering global shortage of over 4 million cybersecurity professionals, the Fall Camp aims to break down barriers and create new opportunities in this vital field.
Immediate Call to Action
Growing demand for cybersecurity experts has created a pressing need for programs such as the Fall Camp. Industry research has highlighted a significant gap in the workforce, prompting WiCyS and ISC2 to collaborate in delivering entry-level certifications and mentorship to aspiring candidates. This program is set to launch on October 14 and will run until November 14, 2025.
According to Dwan Jones, CC, Director of Inclusive Strategies and Engagement at ISC2, the strength of the cybersecurity profession lies in its diversity. "Diverse experiences, skills, and perspectives are critical for developing innovative solutions that safeguard our communities," said Jones.
Unmatched Opportunities
The Fall Camp is specifically designed to be accessible to all individuals interested in entering the cybersecurity field. There are no prerequisites for participation— candidates from different backgrounds, whether they are IT professionals, career changers, or students fresh out of high school, can all apply. The focus remains on those who demonstrate commitment and readiness to earn their certification.
Participants will receive more than just theoretical knowledge; they'll gain hands-on experience coupled with a supportive community. Each attendee is provided with a free exam voucher for their first attempt at the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity (CC) certification. Enrollees will also have access to 14 hours of online self-paced training, mentoring, and curriculum support.
Benefits of Community and Mentorship
Through the WiCyS network, participants are encouraged to forge connections with mentors and peers, enhancing learning through shared experiences. The initiative is expected to foster a collaborative environment where candidates can discuss challenges and share insights, effectively enriching their understanding of key cybersecurity concepts.
Anushree Vaidya, a Cybersecurity Analyst who participated in the Spring 2024 cohort, reflected on the positive impact of the experience: "The collaborative learning environment was essential. It allowed for in-depth discussions, peer support, and a strong sense of community, all of which made navigating preparation for my certification much more engaging and rewarding."
Scholarships and Future Impact
At the conclusion of the Fall Camp, three standout WiCyS members will be awarded scholarships based on a comprehensive assessment of their exam scores, experiences, and written applications. This scholarship will provide them an opportunity to join the WiCyS 2026 Annual Conference, further expanding their professional network and knowledge base.
Applications for the program are open until September 22, 2025, providing a window of opportunity to shape the future of cybersecurity. Those interested can find more information and submit their applications on the WiCyS website.
