Rodney Peete and Sumitomo Pharma America Urge Open Discussion for Overactive Bladder Awareness

Time To Go™ Campaign Launches with Support from Rodney Peete

Sumitomo Pharma America has expanded its impactful Time To Go™ campaign, now featuring former professional quarterback Rodney Peete. Along with his wife, Holly Robinson Peete, the couple becomes advocates for raising awareness surrounding overactive bladder (OAB) and urges audiences to prioritize their health. This partnership aligns with Men's Health Month, emphasizing the necessity for open dialogues regarding this often-misunderstood condition.

Rodney Peete, a new GEMTESA Go-Getter, candidly shares his experiences of living with OAB. For him, the realization that his frequent bathroom trips were more than just part of aging dawned through Holly’s encouragement. "I couldn’t even make it through an inning of a baseball game without a bathroom break," he recalls. This discomfort, previously accepted as normal, led him to seek treatment. His wife Holly, who has also faced OAB, played a key role in highlighting the need for medical advice, showcasing how vital support can be in managing health concerns.

Navigating Overactive Bladder Symptoms

Overactive bladder can significantly disrupt daily life, yet many individuals hesitate to discuss it due to embarrassment. This condition can manifest as sudden urges to urinate, leading to annoying leaks and a need to urinate frequently. According to studies, approximately 16% of men and 17% of women in the U.S. suffer from OAB symptoms, making it a common issue that deserves attention.

Rodney and Holly's voices are pivotal at a time when Sumitomo Pharma America received FDA approval for GEMTESA® (vibegron)—the first beta-3 agonist to treat men experiencing OAB alongside benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH).
