Samsung Showcases AI Governance Strategies at SoftBank World 2026 Event
On July 14, 2026, Samsung Electronics Japan made its debut at SoftBank World 2026, an event aimed at corporations hosted by SoftBank Corporation. "Security and Governance in the Age of AI," addressed a significant shift in the corporate discourse surrounding AI implementation. Dr. Park remarked that the current focus has moved from whether to adopt AI to how quickly and effectively organizations can integrate AI into their operations.
He referenced findings indicating that about 80% of businesses cite improving operational efficiency and productivity as the primary goal of AI adoption. However, there is also a growing expectation for AI to drive innovation and enhance competitive edge. As generative AI evolves from user support as an "AI Assistant" to autonomous decision-making as an "AI Agent," the implications for corporate productivity are profound. This evolution, however, necessitates heightened attention to security and governance as organizations expand their information access and execution authority.
In addressing these challenges, Samsung outlined the principles of AI governance centered on
"minimum privilege access" and
"gradual autonomy." The company emphasized that while the capabilities of AI are significant, the crucial factor determining a company's future competitiveness will be its ability to manage, audit, and operate these technologies securely. Dr. Park also shared three fundamental principles underpinning Samsung's AI strategy:
1. Security as a foundation,
2. Productivity enhancement managed under governance,
3. AI overseeing design through to operation.
Leveraging its long-established enterprise security platform, Samsung Knox, the company aims to strengthen its security provisions adapted for the AI era.
In further detail, Dr. Park discussed Samsung's Zero Trust security philosophy, emphasizing the company's efforts to prevent unauthorized access to sensitive data by AI agents and protect against prompt injections. He provided insight into upcoming developments in security context-based insights intended to facilitate a safe environment for businesses to utilize AI effectively. Plans also include AI supporting IT administrators in device management, monitoring, troubleshooting, and lifecycle management, boosting operational efficiency while upholding governance standards.
Looking ahead, Samsung commits to promoting responsible AI utilization grounded in security and governance by combining on-device capabilities with cloud solutions and collaborative efforts with partner companies.
