ReVista's Builders Point Service Fully Launched at Kajima Construction
ReVista Inc., headquartered in Koto City, Tokyo, is excited to announce that its Builders Point service, designed for construction workers, has been successfully deployed across all branches of Kajima Corporation, also located in Tokyo. This initiative marks a significant step in addressing the ongoing challenges faced by the construction industry in Japan, such as the aging workforce and the declining number of young entrants into the field.
Background of Builders Point Implementation
The construction sector has been struggling with severe labor shortages, primarily due to the increasing age of current workers and a noticeable decrease in young talent entering the industry. As a result, there is a pressing need to create a work environment that enhances the appeal and satisfaction of those working in construction.
In response to these challenges, the Builders Point service was developed as a solution to improve the working conditions for skilled laborers. From October 2023, in collaboration with Kajima and two other main contractors, a series of field trials were conducted at various project sites across the country. These trials demonstrated significant improvements in motivation and workplace engagement among construction workers. Following these positive results, full deployment of the Builders Point service is set to commence in June 2024.
After its official launch, the Builders Point service will continue to be utilized in several of Kajima's work sites. Results indicate notable improvements in several key areas involving hundreds of workers, including increased safety awareness, enhanced motivation, improvements in document submission, and an uptick in CCUS card engagement rates.
Key Achievements Observed Post-Implementation
One of the notable improvements following the service's implementation is the rise of the “Paperless KY” submission rate from 70% to 90%. The Builders Point initiative has also facilitated a 100% input rate into Buildee, the construction site management service utilized by Kajima. This digital approach is part of Kajima's efforts to enhance safety management practices at job sites, notably the electronic submission of KY (danger prediction) activity records.
Historically, compliance with the Paperless KY submissions and data input into Buildee had varied across different work sites. The Builders Point system was introduced as a way to incentivize workers by rewarding them with points for proper conduct. The resulting data from the pilot programs revealed a substantial increase in engagement—an impressive 20% improvement in Paperless KY submission rates and a full compliance rate for Buildee entries.
