Chambersburg Storyteller Stephen Holoviak Discusses New Book 'Retribution'
On June 12, 2025, the Franklin County Visitors Bureau is set to host an intriguing Lunch & Learn event featuring local author and storyteller Stephen Holoviak. This special gathering, taking place from 11:30 AM to 1 PM, will celebrate the launch of Holoviak's latest book, "Retribution."
In this new installment, readers will be plunged into the heart of Chambersburg, as the narrative unfolds against a backdrop of recognizable sites such as Henninger Field, Veroni Café, the Old Franklin County Jail, Trinity Episcopal Church, and Jim's Farmers Market. These local landmarks are not just settings; they play a crucial role in the storyline, which weaves in the lives of real Franklin County residents who contribute to the unfolding mystery.
Following his prior three psychological thrillers featuring the character Brooks Kincade, this latest book sees Kincade confronted with a terrifying new case: a serial killer is on the loose in Chambersburg. This shift from psychological dramas to a murder mystery showcases Holoviak's versatility as an author, and his deep connection to the area enriches the narrative. By integrating familiar locations and historical elements, he invites readers on a journey through the town's haunting and thrilling undercurrents.
Stephen Holoviak, who previously enjoyed a successful career as a professor of management and leadership at Penn State Mont Alto and served as the dean of the John L. Grove College of Business at Shippensburg University, has shifted his pen from non-fiction to fiction. This transition has allowed him to explore the creative aspects of storytelling, character development, and plot construction.
During the event, Holoviak will share valuable insights into his writing process: from the research involved in crafting the plot to the importance of setting in weaving a gripping narrative. Attendees will also have the opportunity to gain firsthand knowledge on how he builds characters that resonate with readers—an essential aspect of his writing that has garnered attention and acclaim.
In addition to engaging discussions, Holoviak will have copies of "Retribution" available for purchase and signing, providing a personal touch for fans and readers alike. To further enhance the experience, a delicious lunch buffet prepared by Veroni Café will feature delightful offerings of Central and Southern Mexican cuisine, along with vegetarian options for those with dietary preferences.
This highly anticipated event is free, but guests are required to register in advance to secure their spot. The Lunch & Learn will be held in the inviting Great Room on the second floor of the Franklin County 11/30 Visitors Center. To register and for more information, you can visit
