Exploring Careers and Future Choices at the Summer Family Event

On July 26, 2026, Persol Tempstaff, a prominent staffing company based in Shibuya, Tokyo, participated in the important cultural property, Jiyu Gakuen Myonkan's event, co-hosted by Toshima Ward, titled “Toshima de Manabu Natsu no 1-nichi” (A Day of Learning in Toshima) for families. This initiative encourages children to understand the various work opportunities available to them.

The event attracted a remarkable 805 attendees, with 108 families engaging in hands-on workshops organized by the company. The workshops aimed to deepen understanding of work by exploring various jobs within their daily lives. Through these activities, Persol Tempstaff aimed to help children broaden their future options and possibilities.

Overview of “Toshima de Manabu Natsu no 1-nichi” Event

The “Toshima de Manabu Natsu no 1-nichi” event has been hosted annually since 2022 by Jiyu Gakuen Myonkan in collaboration with Toshima Ward. The primary goal of this initiative is to provide a learning space for children during their summer vacation, particularly focusing on those who will shape our future. This year, the event was planned in collaboration between the public and private sectors, and Persol Tempstaff has taken part every year since 2023, aligning with the event's objective to enrich children’s learning experiences about work.

This year's theme was “Let’s Explore Work Together,” featuring workshops where families could investigate “jobs in everyday life.” For instance, questions such as “Where does the doctor work?” and “Who else is working in the hospital besides doctors?” fostered imaginative thinking and collaboration between parents and children. Participants delved into various career roles within their communities, sparking fun discussions and engagements based on their findings.

The goal of these workshops is to raise awareness among children about the multitude of jobs that support their daily lives and to cultivate their interest in work. By sharing experiences and brainstorming about jobs as a family, the initiative encourages children to consider diverse options for their futures. This aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly Goal 4: “Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.”
