Poets&Quants Reveals the Best & Brightest MBAs of 2026 Class

Celebrating Excellence in MBA Education

On May 5, 2026, Poets&Quants, a top source for news in graduate business education, proudly unveiled its twelfth edition of the Best & Brightest MBAs. This annual feature honors an elite group of 100 outstanding full-time MBA graduates from the class of 2026, recognized for their exceptional achievements both in academia and their respective professional domains.

Jeff Schmitt, the senior editor at Poets&Quants, describes these students as indispensable members of their classes. He adds that they are the “driving forces” among their peers, consistently demonstrating an ability to manage a rigorous workload while maintaining a high standard of excellence. Schmitt emphasizes, "They elevate and embody what it means to be a leader in business today."

Notable Alumni Highlights

Among this year's standout graduates is Michael Autery from the prestigious MIT Sloan School. A U.S. Navy veteran, Autery devised an innovative solution known as the Autonomous Rescue Swimmer (ARS) during his entrepreneurship studies. He achieved a remarkable feat by winning first prize in both the MIT $100K Pitch competition and a subsequent business initiative. His dedication and innovation serve as an inspiring example of the remarkable talent in this MBA cohort.

Another illustrious individual is Daina Mandewo from Saïd Business School at Oxford, who was selected to participate in a debate at the Oxford Union alongside prominent figures, including a former U.S. Food and Drug Administration commissioner and the Chief Medical Officer of Pfizer. Remarkably, audience response crowned her as the debate’s winner, further solidifying her reputation as a leader on campus.

Federico E. Alatorre, from IESE Business School, garnered attention by leaving the classroom to pitch his startup on the popular show Shark Tank Mexico, demonstrating the entrepreneurial spirit that thrives among his peers.

Nomination and Selection Process

To compile this prestigious list, Poets&Quants reached out to 89 elite graduate business schools worldwide, inviting them to nominate their top candidates. The editorial team evaluated responses based on four criteria: extracurricular involvement, academic and professional achievements, insightful responses, and faculty recommendations. The process resulted in 216 nominations from institutions known for their rigorous academic standards, including the Indian School of Business, INSEAD, and the Wharton School.

Notably, the selected class maintained a gender balance with an equal number of men and women, showcasing a diversity that enriches the student body. Additionally, 55 graduates represented institutions outside the United States, underscoring the global reach and appeal of these business programs. Major corporations such as McKinsey & Company and Amazon expressed interest in this talented pool, with each hiring multiple graduates from the class.
