In a creative fusion of art and culinary delight, the Roppongi-based art gallery and Taiwanese restaurant, "Art ka Bifun ka Paichu," will open its doors for a weekend cafe starting Saturday, June 27, 2026. Developed by The Chain Museum, this innovative space aims to blend the appreciation of art with the joys of traditional Taiwanese cuisine.
To mark the launch of this new cafe initiative, they will introduce an exciting new dessert: "Tofu Shaved Ice" (Douhua Ice), a distinctive take on a beloved Taiwanese sweet. This delectable creation elevates the classic tofu pudding into a refreshing shaved ice treat, allowing patrons to enjoy a sumptuous dessert while surrounded by captivating works of art.

The cornerstone of the new dessert menu, Douhua Ice is crafted with finely shaved ice soaked in almond milk, generously topped with house-made douhua cream. What truly sets it apart are the various toppings that enhance the texture and flavor, making each bite a delightful experience.

The cafe will operate every weekend, Saturday and Sunday, from 1 PM to 5 PM, alongside dinner service from Tuesday to Saturday, 5 PM to 11 PM. The cafe will remain closed on Mondays.

About Art ka Bifun ka Paichu
Founded by The Chain Museum, Art ka Bifun ka Paichu serves as both a gallery and a restaurant, focusing on Taiwanese cuisine while also curating monthly art projects in a redeveloping building. In this unique space, guests can appreciate art while enjoying delicious food, effectively merging the worlds of culinary arts and visual art. The name "Paichu" combines a homage to the white cube exhibition spaces with the comforting warmth of a kitchen.
Meet the Chef
Chef Rumi Ogawa, originally from Tokyo, brings extensive culinary experience to the table. After 14 years in a renowned bakery, she launched her own brand, gather. Having operated a bread-focused cafe and a hot dog cafe inside the Watarium Museum, she now steers the culinary direction at Art ka Bifun ka Paichu.
