Itabashi Ward Launches Subsidy Program for Home Security Equipment Purchases

Itabashi Ward Launches Subsidy Program for Home Security Equipment Purchases

In response to rising concerns over safety due to recent robbery incidents, Itabashi Ward has announced the initiation of a subsidy program to aid residents in purchasing security equipment. This initiative will commence on June 1, 2023, and aims to support the community in enhancing their home security measures.

The title of this initiative is Itabashi Ward Emergency Subsidy for Home Security Equipment Purchases. The program will accept applications from June 1, 2023, until February 28, 2024, with all applications postmarked by the latter date being considered valid. It's important to note that window applications will only be accepted on weekdays, and the program may close earlier than the stated end date if the allocated budget is exhausted.

Who Can Apply?

Eligible applicants must be residents of Itabashi Ward, registered at the address where they reside. This can include heads of households or individuals with equivalent status, regardless of whether they live in single-family homes or rental apartments. Each household can submit only one application, and it is crucial that the applicants and all household members have not received similar subsidies from other local government programs in the fiscal year 2023.

Applications from non-residents, such as landlords or property managers, are not permitted.

What Can Be Subsidized?

The subsidy program covers various essential home security items, including:
  • - Security cameras
  • - Intercoms with cameras
  • - High-security locks and additional locks
  • - Security grilles
  • - Sensor lights
  • - Sensor alarms
  • - Security film and glass
  • - Security gravel, among others.

Participants have the option to combine multiple items in their applications, and costs associated with professional installation by certified contractors are also eligible for coverage. However, it is essential to purchase items after April 1, 2023, to qualify for support.

How Much Is Covered?

The program offers funding that covers 75% of the purchase and installation costs, with a maximum limit of 30,000 yen (rounded down to the nearest thousand). In cases where applicants use points or coupons at the time of purchase, the subsidy will apply only to the final amount after any discounts are factored in.
