Together, they are rolling out the world's first fleet of solar-powered, off-grid trailers, dubbed Ecoluxe®. This initiative not only emphasizes eco-friendly production practices but also marks a significant advancement in studio infrastructure technology.

The Ecoluxe® trailers are designed to support various production needs, offering luxury living amenities while simultaneously generating renewable energy. Each trailer integrates features like Starlink® WiFi and EV charging stations, catering to the growing demand for sustainable energy solutions in film production. With configurations available in one, two, or three-room layouts, these trailers can serve various logistical functions, including wardrobe or restroom facilities, making them a versatile choice for any filming location.

Hollywood Trucks has been a pioneer in clean transportation solutions for over a decade, having launched the first patented solar thermal trailers and mobile, off-grid base camps. This unique collaboration allows Universal Production Services to enhance production facilities with important eco-friendly alternatives. Equipped to operate completely off-grid, these trailers also provide supplemental energy to existing power infrastructures, creating a hybrid energy system that can reduce emissions from traditional diesel generators. The Ecoluxe® fleet boasts the capacity to generate, store, and distribute clean energy directly at production sites, allowing filmmakers to minimize their environmental footprint. The new trailers are constructed with advanced solar technology, featuring powerful solar arrays and lithium batteries. For example, the 53-foot Ecoluxe® trailers, when paired with electric semis, can provide over 1.2 MWh of battery storage alongside 18 kW of solar power, while the smaller 40-foot versions deliver 70 kWh of battery storage and 6 kW of solar power. Not only do these trailers offer convenience and efficiency, but they also promote a commitment to reducing greenhouse gas emissions and noise pollution in film production environments.

Universal Production Services aims to deploy this innovative trailer fleet across multiple Universal locations, including sound stages and backlots. The initial rollout has already commenced at Universal Studios in Los Angeles, California, with plans set to expand the Ecoluxe® service to more production sites in the near future.
