Kempinski Hotels Launches New Era by Managing Historic Nymphenburg Palace Residence
Kempinski Hotels Signs Historic Agreement for Nymphenburg Palace Management
On February 27, 2025, Kempinski Hotels entered a momentous agreement to oversee the management of the Royal Residence at Nymphenburg Palace, marking a significant milestone in hospitality. This collaboration with His Royal Highness Prince Luitpold von Bayern and the Bavarian Royal Family signals the start of an exciting chapter for the luxury hotel group. This agreement takes effect on March 1, 2025, allowing Kempinski to infuse its renowned service and elegance into one of Europe's most historically rich properties.
Barbara Muckermann, the Group Chief Executive Officer of Kempinski Hotels, expressed the company’s honor to manage such a storied residence. “This partnership represents an exciting opportunity for Kempinski to elevate the guest experience at such a prestigious historic site. Our goal is to preserve the legacy of Nymphenburg while introducing new layers of luxury and personalized service,” she stated.
Situated at the crossroads of city life and the natural world, the Royal Residence of Nymphenburg Palace boasts exquisite accommodations in Munich. Covering an impressive 836 square meters across three levels, this residence features four bedrooms, seven bathrooms, three lounges, a dining room, kitchen, fitness area, meeting spaces, a home cinema, and a wine cellar. An exclusive private garden with a decorative tiled terrace can accommodate up to 100 guests, ensuring a picturesque setting for various events.
The Royal Residence also serves as a showcase for Nymphenburg porcelain. High-quality artworks, figurines, and tableware from the famed manufacturer adorn the residence, while custom interior details enhance the luxury experience. The establishment proudly features notable pieces from contemporary artists such as Damien Hirst and Nick Knight, allowing guests to enjoy invaluable works of art throughout their stay.
Founded in 1747 by Maximilian III, Elector of Bavaria, the Nymphenburg Porcelain Factory is one of the world’s oldest porcelain manufacturers, with production processes that remain completely handcrafted. This commitment to meticulous craftsmanship has persisted over the centuries, with each piece meticulously crafted to maintain the high standards of the brand.
The management of Nymphenburg Palace by Kempinski further solidifies the long-standing relationship between the hotel group, the Bavarian royal family, and the city's hospitality history. The Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski Munich—which has been hosting royal guests for generations—was constructed by Prince Luitpold von Bayern's great-great-grandfather, King Maximilian II, in 1858.
Prince Luitpold expressed excitement over the new phase of collaboration with Kempinski. “We are thrilled to announce the expansion of our long-standing partnership, particularly with the Hotel Vier Jahreszeiten Kempinski. This hotel has long been a benchmark for luxurious hospitality and is now embarking on a new chapter with the management of the Royal Residence—an exceptional venue designed for guests seeking the highest cultural standards.”
Starting March 1, 2025, guests may reserve the Royal Residence at Nymphenburg Palace, which includes full access to the luxurious 836-square-meter villa, daily breakfast, round-trip airport transfers, 24/7 butler service, and a chauffeur-driven limousine for the duration of their stay. The unique residence can also be booked for exclusive weddings, private meetings, and special events, with rates starting at €25,000 (approximately $26,250) per night.
