Shizuoka News Begins New Subscription Service for PR Professionals to Enhance Local Businesses

Shizuoka News Launches 'PR Compass' Subscription Service

On July 1, 2025, Shizuoka News, along with Shizuoka Broadcasting, is set to launch 'PR Compass', a subscription service designed to address the pressing issue of public relations (PR) skill shortages among local small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).

In a landscape where many SMEs possess outstanding technologies and services but struggle to communicate their strengths effectively, the emergence of this service aims to bridge the widening 'communication gap'. Through a partnership with Schoo Co., Ltd., a renowned provider of online learning services based in Tokyo, 'PR Compass' will empower PR professionals in Shizuoka by offering systematic training in PR skills.

Background of the Schoo Partnership

The initiative is born from a continuous dialogue with local businesses that highlighted the critical challenges they face, particularly a lack of PR expertise and the unavailability of specialized personnel. To effectively tackle these issues, Shizuoka News and Shizuoka Broadcasting have collaborated with Schoo following their participation in Shizuoka City's Open Innovation Program for fiscal 2024. This program allowed the media organization to delve into business challenges locally, leading to the decision to formulate a tailored support menu to assist in resolving these challenges.

Engaging with Schoo, which has been operating since its founding in 2011 and boasts an impressive library of around 9,000 learning materials, has enabled the creation of 'PR Compass'. This platform will utilize Schoo's advanced learning solution, Schoo Swing, to offer PR knowledge and practical opportunities through a monthly subscription.

Features of PR Compass

1. Comprehensive PR Learning Subscription: The service will offer customized video content tailored for Shizuoka's companies, primarily featuring Schoo’s popular courses aimed at beginner to intermediate levels. The online classes will be formatted for continual learning, helping businesses to enhance their PR capabilities.

2. Community Formation for Mutual Learning: To foster collaboration, 'PR Compass' will organize online meetups and real-life events that promote networking among PR professionals. This environment will encourage the exchange of information and provide friendly support among peers.

3. Local Media Support: For subscribers opting for the 'Coaching Plan', local media experts from Shizuoka News and Shizuoka Broadcasting will offer personalized consultations. This will assist in refining press release drafts and advising on optimal timing for media exposure.
