DOOR Initiates Major Restructuring to Streamline Operations and Drive Growth

DOOR Sets Course for Growth with Strategic Restructuring

In a bold move to streamline its operations and catalyze its path to profitability, DOOR, formerly known as Latch, Inc., has unveiled a comprehensive restructuring plan that includes a significant reduction in its global workforce as well as the exit from its property management operations. Announced on August 5, 2026, these sweeping changes are anticipated to yield annual cost savings of approximately $10 to $12 million, further propelling the company towards sustainable growth.

Workforce Reduction and Business Exit

The restructuring will affect around 32% of DOOR's global workforce, equating to approximately 65 positions primarily concentrated in Europe and reflecting about 10% of its current U.S. employee base. These workforce reductions are expected to be largely finalized by the end of 2026, enabling DOOR to enhance efficiency and align its operational costs more closely with its revenue.

In addition to workforce reductions, the company plans to exit the DOOR Property Management business, which has not been able to meet profitability or growth expectations. This strategic exit will allow DOOR to focus its resources on its core Building Intelligence platform—an initiative designed to integrate advanced hardware and intuitive software to transform building operations.

Focus on Artificial Intelligence

As part of its ongoing transformation, DOOR has invested heavily in artificial intelligence (AI) advancements, which will enable a more compact and efficient engineering structure capable of sustaining the Building Intelligence roadmap. The launch of Scout earlier this year highlights the company's commitment to innovation within this domain. DOOR’s CEO, Dave Lillis, emphasized this focus:
"We've embedded AI across software development, customer support, and our internal systems, resulting in a company that can design, build, and ship with a leaner organization."

DOOR's shift towards AI-assisted software is expected to facilitate a significantly refined operational framework, allowing the company to achieve its strategic objectives while cultivating long-term growth.

Financial Perspectives

The company projects it will incur restructuring-related charges between $1.5 million and $2.5 million. These costs are primarily associated with severance and benefit packages for affected employees. By undergoing these restructuring actions, DOOR aims to not only stabilize its finances but also invest in the future of its technological platforms.

Historical Context and Future Outlook

Since completing a significant restatement of prior financial statements in 2024 and necessitating a leadership overhaul in 2025, DOOR has made substantial strides in decreasing operating expenses while also allocating funds towards innovative product development. The recent measures taken are designed to align operational capabilities with expected revenue, thus paving the way for sustainable profitability.

Lillis reiterated a focus on aligning the company’s cost structure with its revenue-generating potential, stating,
"These actions are deliberate—they reflect our relentless pursuit of profitability and long-term growth."

As DOOR moves forward, the company has committed to providing further updates through its filings with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, ensuring investors and stakeholders remain informed of the ongoing transformation.
