MTEC Launches Two New Funding Opportunities
The Medical Technology Enterprise Consortium (MTEC) has unveiled two significant funding opportunities, aimed at propelling medical technology advancements to support military medicine in some of the most challenging circumstances. These initiatives target urgent operational needs of the U.S. military and invite collaboration from industry, academia, and research sectors to innovate solutions that will enhance military readiness and healthcare quality in the field.
On-Demand Manufacturing of Diagnostic Components
The first call, MTEC-26-03-PROMPT (PRimer and prObe Manufacturing PlaTform), focuses on revolutionizing the production of clinical-grade PCR primers and probes directly on the battlefield. The vision for this system is to reduce dependency on centralized manufacturing processes and complex supply chains, which are often hindered by the logistical challenges of military operations.
With the ability to manufacture these critical diagnostic components on-site, military personnel can react promptly to infectious disease outbreaks and biological threats, thereby improving their response capabilities in dire scenarios. The Solution Briefs for this initiative are due on July 24, 2026. For additional details, interested parties can visit

Autonomous Ventilation for Prolonged Field Care
The second opportunity, designated MTEC-26-02-Ventilator (Autonomous Closed Loop Control Mechanical Ventilation), allocates up to $1.9 million to create a sophisticated mechanical ventilator that can adapt autonomously to a patient's condition. By integrating advanced physiological control algorithms and a modern system architecture, this initiative aims to optimize care during long-term field medical situations and aeromedical evacuations. This solution is designed to alleviate the burdens faced by military medical teams operating under limited resources.
Enhanced White Papers for this project are due on July 15, 2026. For more information, please check

Though they tackle different medical challenges, both funding opportunities share a critical aim: to bolster survivability, enhance operational capabilities, and equip military medical staff with essential tools tailored for immediate application in combat situations.
Lauren Palaestrini, Chief Science Officer of MTEC, commented, "Each funding initiative unlocks potential solutions to vital challenges our service members face. By intertwining government priorities with innovative solutions, we aim to transition promising concepts into practical capabilities."
To apply for these funding opportunities, organizations must be members of MTEC. With more funding opportunities anticipated within the calendar year, this represents an ideal moment for organizations to join MTEC. Membership opens doors to exclusive funding avenues, collaboration resources, and connections with innovators from various sectors, including industry, academia, and government.
