The Grand Reopening of Yayoi Ken Izumi Chuo: A Fresh Start with New Identity
Celebrating a significant milestone, the Yayoi Ken Izumi Chuo store will officially reopen after renovations on June 6, 2023, at 10 AM. This event marks not only the grand unveiling of the new logo but also an exciting brand image that aligns with the contemporary tastes of diners today.
Yayoi Ken, operated by Plenus Co., Ltd., is renowned for its delicious set meal offerings, boasting a portfolio of 361 locations across Japan as of May 2025. This newly revamped store serves as a showcase for the fresh brand identity, which was introduced in December 2023.
A Modern Take on Tradition
The Izumi Chuo store features a design that reflects a modern interpretation of traditional Japanese elements. With the new logo prominently displayed, the store is adorned with a sophisticated atmosphere that incorporates modern nods to Japanese culture. The store features unique decorations, such as a stylish curtain (noren) that evokes the spirit of “Yayoi,” along with historical references to its origins, all captured in the new wallpaper designs throughout the venue.
In addition to the inviting ambiance, the store has sought to enhance the dining experience by introducing technology that caters to guest convenience. Customers can now place their orders via tablets installed at tables, allowing for a leisurely pace when selecting meals. The menu has also been expanded to include exclusive desserts available only at this location. A drink bar has been incorporated to ensure diners can enjoy their meals comfortably. Of course, the beloved “okawari-dokoro” remains, providing unlimited refills of rice, dashi broth, and pickles, essential components of the authentic Yayoi Ken experience.

New Branding Elements:
The new logo employs modern serif typography, eschewing rounded edges to create a sophisticated synergy between Japanese characters, Latin letters, and the symbol mark. The logo’s design encapsulates the essence of Yayoi Ken, allowing for easy recognition both in Japan and globally. The symbol mark combines the letters “YAYOI” into a curtain motif, incorporating handwritten elements to amplify its traditional representation. The vibrant colors in this branding also symbolize ambition (represented by Yayoi Red) and the freshness of new life (reflected in Yayoi Wakakusa) emphasizing a commitment to a modern yet deeply rooted Japanese heritage.
