Censys Welcomes New CFO Jeff Hackett Amid Rapid Growth and Challenges

Censys Appoints Jeff Hackett as Chief Financial Officer

Censys, recognized as a key provider of Internet intelligence, has announced the appointment of Jeff Hackett as its new Chief Financial Officer (CFO). This strategic move coincides with a period of unprecedented growth for the company, which is experiencing a surge in demand for its cybersecurity offerings, particularly as artificial intelligence (AI) tools increasingly enable quicker and larger-scale cyberattacks. Hackett will report directly to Censys co-founder and CEO Zakir Durumeric, leading the company’s global finance organization.

This leadership change comes at a critical time for Censys. In the first half of 2026, the company reported remarkable achievements: a staggering 400% increase in customers with annual recurring revenue surpassing $1 million, a 186% growth in partner-sourced bookings, and a 115% expansion of its customer base for the Censys Platform. These numbers reflect Censys's position as a necessary player in offering real-time Internet visibility and context, fundamentally important in the face of evolving cyber threats.

Zakir Durumeric expressed confidence in Hackett’s capabilities, stating, "AI is making trusted Internet intelligence fundamental to modern security. Censys has built the right technology for this moment, and our customer growth shows that the market is ready." The CEO emphasized that Jeff Hackett’s experience in scaling successful cybersecurity and Software as a Service (SaaS) companies will be invaluable as Censys transitions into its next growth phase.

Hackett's background includes over 20 years of finance experience in the technology and cybersecurity sectors. Prior to joining Censys, he served as Senior Vice President of Strategic Finance at Armis, where he played a pivotal role in scaling the company to over $340 million in annual recurring revenue. This success culminated in a lucrative acquisition by ServiceNow for $7.75 billion. His tenure at ServiceNow, where he held increasingly senior finance roles, provided him with critical insights into managing rapid growth in global businesses. Additionally, his prior experience at NXP Semiconductors and Symantec has equipped him with a broad perspective on the technological landscape.

"I am thrilled to join Censys at such a pivotal moment," Hackett stated. He highlighted Censys's ability to leverage its technological advantages into widespread enterprise adoption, positioning the company as a cornerstone of the cybersecurity ecosystem. Hackett acknowledged that addressing fundamental visibility problems in cybersecurity is essential for risk management in today's digital landscape.

Censys, at the forefront of Internet intelligence, offers comprehensive and accurate insights into global Internet infrastructure. Companies worldwide, including Fortune 500 firms and government entities, rely on Censys to uncover risks and respond effectively to security breaches before they occur. With its dedicated focus on delivering industry-leading solutions for security operations, exposure management, and proactive incident response, Censys aims to play a crucial role in enhancing cybersecurity amidst growing threats.

As Hackett steps into his new role, Censys faces the challenges and responsibilities that come with rapid growth. The appointment marks a significant step in the company's journey, reflecting its commitment to providing essential tools and insights needed to navigate the complexities of modern cybersecurity. With Hackett at the helm of its financial strategies, Censys is poised to strengthen its market position and support its continued expansion into the future.
