Celebrate Autumn: Okuan's Potato Festival 2025 in Tokyo!
As the season changes, the Okuan Ichiza restaurant located in Akihabara is excited to announce its seasonal event, “Okuan's Potato Festival 2025”. This autumn celebration begins in late October and lasts as long as the supply of fresh potatoes lasts! This event is particularly special as it highlights the delicious flavors of the Tohoku region, inviting patrons to indulge in the rich culinary heritage of northeastern Japan right in the heart of Tokyo.
A Tribute to Tohoku's Flavor
The theme of this festival, driven by the mission of connecting people through food, reflects the restaurant’s effort to bring the authentic tastes of Tohoku to Tokyo. This autumn, after overcoming the harsh summer, a bountiful harvest of potatoes from Okuda has come to life, which is why the restaurant aims to share this abundance with its customers.
Free Buttered Potatoes with Sake Tasting
For guests who order the “2nd Anniversary Sake Tasting” for 2,000 JPY (tax included) during the event period, Okuan Ichiza will offer a complimentary plate of their delicious “jaga butter” (buttered potatoes) while supplies last. These potatoes are renowned for their fluffy texture and natural sweetness, which harmoniously complement the richness of butter and the distinct aroma of premium Japanese sake.
Featured Premium Sake Selection
1.
Hassen (Tokubetsu Junmai): Aoyama's famous sake, notable for its fruity notes and smooth finish.
2.
Toyoplai (Tokubetsu Junmai): A rich taste derived from carefully extracted rice flavors, leaving a pleasant aftertaste.
3.
Hanakaze (Junmai Hiyaoroshi): An autumn-exclusive offering that provides a mellow taste due to its summer storage, highlighted by its gentle finish.
4.
Gingetsuzan (Junmai Ginjo): A clean and delicate taste reminiscent of pure mountain water, making it a perfect pairing for any meal.
Savoring Almost Tohoku in Hokkaido
The potatoes from Hokkaido deliver a beautiful balance of fluffy texture and gentle sweetness. By enjoying these with genuine Tohoku sake, diners can experience the essence of an autumn reminiscent of the Tohoku region, all while being in Tokyo. The premium sake options, including favorites like “Mutsu Hassen”, “Toyoplai”, “Hanakaze”, and “Gingetsuzan” promise to pair excellently with the buttery potatoes, creating a match made in culinary heaven.
Freshly-Boiled Potatoes with Simple Seasoning
To ensure patrons enjoy the potatoes at their best, the staff meticulously preps each potato and serves it freshly boiled. Each potato is seasoned simply with high-quality Hokkaido butter and rock salt to enhance the natural flavor. For those seeking a twist, adding some mayonnaise or soy sauce can elevate the dish even further.
