Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa Honors Veterans with a Special July 4th Celebration

This upcoming Independence Day weekend, Eagle Ridge Resort & Spa in Galena, Illinois, will host "A Soaring Salute," a heartfelt two-day event aimed at honoring America's veterans while supporting the Honor Flight of Dubuque and the Tri-States. Scheduled for July 3-4, the celebration will feature a variety of activities designed to engage veterans, military families, and history buffs alike, alongside the general community.

The event kicks off on July 3 with the Firecracker 5K/10K Run and a compelling Pancakes & Parachutes breakfast. Participants will witness a stunning aerial presentation by the esteemed Team Fastrax skydivers, who will descend while proudly displaying a large American flag. As the day progresses, visitors can enjoy a Presentation of Colors by local veterans’ organizations, including Galena’s American Legion and VFW Post 2665, creating a memorable tribute to service members.

Guests will also have a unique opportunity to step back in time with World War II reenactors showcasing living history experiences, complete with authentic military vehicles, equipment, and engaging educational presentations. These activities aim not just to entertain but to educate attendees about the sacrifices made by our veterans, bringing history alive for visitors of all ages.

In addition to the historical displays, the day will culminate with the Fourth Annual Honor Flight Golf Scramble and the Stars and Stripes Jeep Showcase, rounding out an exciting day filled with camaraderie and respect for the service.

On July 4, the celebration transitions to the Shenandoah Riding Center for an inviting Barn Party, where families can partake in pony rides, wagon rides, and a petting zoo. Young ones will be entertained with balloon artists, bounce houses, and live music performances by local artists, including the popular bands Midwest Renegades and Ten Gallon Hat.
