Energy-Saving Measures Announced by Egypt's Tourism Ministry Will Not Affect Tourists
In a recent statement, E. Sherif Fathy, the Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities, has emphasized that the government's newly introduced energy-saving measures will not detrimentally affect tourists visiting Egypt. These measures, aimed at optimizing energy consumption in light of global developments, are set to take effect on Saturday, March 28, for a duration of one month. Notably, Fathy assured that the changes will not compromise the overall tourist experience nor the quality of services provided during their stay in the country.
The specific changes involve regulating closing hours for shops, which will now close at 9 PM on weekdays and 10 PM on Thursdays and Fridays. Importantly, these regulations will not apply to renowned tourist destinations such as Hurghada, Marsa Alam, Luxor, Aswan, and Sharm el-Sheikh, nor will they affect tourist restaurants across all locations, including Cairo. This exemption ensures that the quality of service continues to meet high standards, allowing tourists to enjoy their experiences without disruption.
Minister Fathy reiterated the state’s commitment to providing a safe, high-quality, and fully integrated tourism experience, highlighting Egypt's role as a leading tourist destination globally. He clarified that these energy-saving measures are temporary and regulatory in nature and they will undergo continuous review and adjustments as necessary.
This proactive step reflects the Egyptian government's dedication to balancing energy efficiency with the needs and expectations of visitors. The measures were introduced amid growing concerns about energy consumption globally, especially in the wake of ongoing environmental discussions.
The Egyptian Tourism Authority (ETA), established in 1981, is instrumental in promoting Egypt's rich tourism heritage alongside its diverse experiences and destinations. Under the guidance of Minister Fathy, the ETA oversees marketing strategies, supports tourism development, and sponsors various events aimed at boosting tourist arrivals to Egypt.
For further information and updates about tourism initiatives in Egypt, individuals can visit the official websites of the ETA. This strategic approach aims to maintain Egypt's position as a key player in the international tourism market while ensuring that visitors enjoy a delightful and memorable stay.
Thus, as tourists plan their trips to Egypt, they can rest assured that their experiences remain a priority, even amid the country’s efforts to implement necessary energy conservation practices. This balance between ecological responsibility and tourism excellence is a cornerstone of Egypt's future tourism strategies.
