Delska's New 10 MW Data Center in Latvia Achieves Tier III Certification

Delska's Innovative Data Center in Latvia

On August 19, 2025, Delska, a prominent data center operator in Northern Europe, announced that its new facility in Latvia, named EU North Riga LV DC1, has been awarded the highly respected Tier III Design Certification from the Uptime Institute. This certification not only highlights Delska's commitment to excellence but also represents a substantial step toward the facility's much-anticipated launch set for late this year. Upon completion, this center is projected to become one of the most environmentally friendly data centers in the Baltic region.

The Tier III Design Certification ensures that the facility adheres to rigorous benchmarks for redundancy, security, and uninterrupted operation, guaranteeing an uptime of 99.982%. As Andris Gailitis, the CEO of Delska, pointed out, “In a world where just a few seconds of downtime can cost thousands of euros, Tier III means our infrastructure stays online — even during scheduled maintenance.”

Cutting-Edge Features and Scalability

This new 10 MW data center is engineered to support next-generation workloads, including Artificial Intelligence and High-Performance Computing (HPC), addressing energy shortages in major European hubs. Its modular layout spans 6000 square meters and is fully scalable, with the ability to expand the data center campus to as much as 30 MW.

Sustainability lies at the heart of the design. The center will be powered entirely by wind energy, with backup generators utilizing renewable diesel from Neste MY. To achieve an impressive Power Usage Effectiveness (PUE) rating of just 1.3, advanced free-cooling systems, hot aisle containment, an efficient white-space wall cooling system, and Trane Turbocor-based chillers will be employed. The facility will support both air cooling and high-density direct-to-chip cooling solutions.

Delska is also pursuing LEED certification for green building, a distinction held by fewer than 15 structures in Latvia. Following its completion, LV DC1 will receive Tier III facility certification, confirming that both construction and operation meet the same high standards as the design. This will mark Delska's third Tier III certified data center, adding to a total of six facilities, which includes two certified locations in Lithuania. Plans are in place for another Lithuanian data center and an additional facility in the region to further strengthen Delska's Baltic data center network.

Delska's Growing Influence

With over 26 years of experience in IT and network infrastructure, Delska stands as one of the largest data center operators in the Baltic states. The company operates fully eco-friendly Tier III and PCI-DSS-certified facilities in Riga and Vilnius, boasting a combined capacity of 19 MW. With branches also in Frankfurt, Amsterdam, and Stockholm, Delska's portfolio encompasses cloud services, server rentals, networking, security, and managed services.

Since being acquired by the Quaero European Infrastructure Fund II in 2020, Delska has significantly enhanced its infrastructure and energy efficiency. In 2024, DEAC (Latvia) and DLC (Lithuania) merged under the Delska brand, and this year, RackRay (Lithuania) joined the group, expanding their capabilities and offerings.

Delska's focus on innovation and sustainability underlines its role as a forward-thinking leader in the data center industry, setting a benchmark for operational excellence and environmental responsibility in the region. With ongoing developments and a commitment to high standards, Delska is positioning itself for continued success in the dynamic world of data management and technology services.
