TOKYO中高生職業体験サイトJob EX (Job EX) is a platform designed to connect eager students with companies and organizations that offer hands-on work experiences related to their interests. During the summer of 2026, the program aims to create practical job experience opportunities based on feedback from students to ensure relevance and engagement.
Participant Recruitment for Job Experience
Eligibility Criteria
Middle and high school students within the age range corresponding to this category, or those enrolled in schools in Tokyo, are eligible to apply. Specifically, those born between
April 2, 2008, and April 1, 2014, are invited to take part.
Application Timeline
The application window will open from
May 25, 2026, to
July 5, 2026, allowing ample time for interested students to complete their applications.
Participating Organizations
This year, students can choose from a diverse range of over
82 companies and organizations—from large corporations to innovative startups—ensuring they have access to various fields and industries.
Number of Participants
Around
820 students will be accepted into the job experience programs. Spaces are limited, highlighting the importance of timely applications.
Activity Locations
Job experience activities will take place at the participants’ respective companies or organizations, located either within Tokyo or in nearby regions.
Program Details
The job experience will encompass a variety of activities, which may include:
- - Introductory sessions concerning the structure and operations of the host organization.
- - Hands-on work activities directly related to the students' interests.
- - Projects addressing community and social issues, contributing to real-world solutions in collaboration with guardians and employees.
- - Engaging with employees to discuss work-life balance, including interactions with employees who are parents, thereby exploring the juggling act of raising children while managing professional responsibilities.

Job EX website here. They can confirm details regarding the available programs, dates, and locations on the site before completing the online application form. The selection process for participants will involve a lottery if the number of applicants exceeds program capacities.
Seeking Student Reporters
In conjunction with the job experience program, the Tokyo Metropolitan Government is also looking for student reporters to document their experiences. As reporters, students will attend corporate activities, interview management teams, and report on their findings and insights from a student’s point of view. This offers an enriching opportunity to engage deeply with both the job market and media creation.
Reporter Recruitment Timeline
The recruitment period for the student reporters aligns with the job experience application, from
May 25, 2026, to
June 17, 2026.
Requirements for Student Reporters
- - Students must be enrolled or residing in Tokyo, falling under the same age categories.
- - A total of 18 student reporters will ultimately be selected.
Activities as a Student Reporter
- - Participation in preliminary workshops set for July 18, 2026, in a face-to-face format.
- - Engaging in the job experiences and reporting on those activities (specific dates provided separately).
- - Completing a writing workshop that will take place on August 30, 2026.
- - Submitting articles they created on their own, expected from September 2026 onward.
Support and guidance will be provided by the Tokyo job experience project office throughout the program duration.
