Bank of America Teams Up with U2 and Sir David Beckham to Inspire Change in 'Street of Dreams'
Bank of America’s 'Street of Dreams': A Uplifting Short Film
In a groundbreaking collaboration, Bank of America has unveiled a remarkable short film titled Street of Dreams, featuring the legendary Sir David Beckham and the iconic band U2. This poignant film highlights how support, belief, and the power of sport can significantly alter the lives of young individuals, especially those facing adversities.
A Heartwarming Narrative
The film tells the inspiring tale of a young girl named Calle, portrayed by the rising star Nevaeh Derricks. Calle's journey begins in the difficult realm of homelessness, yet despite her challenges, she clings to her dream of playing soccer. Throughout her struggle, she finds comfort and guidance in the form of Sir David Beckham, who manifests as her inner voice and guardian spirit, symbolizing hope and belief.
An Empowering Message
Street of Dreams not only showcases the resilience of youth but also emphasizes the initiatives intended to uplift and empower young lives. Bank of America has pledged to reach over one million youngsters globally through their Soccer with Us platform by 2026. This initiative aims to provide crucial resources and life skills to youth ages 6-18, including the Soccer at Schools program in collaboration with U.S. Soccer, further aiming to ensure soccer becomes accessible in schools nationwide by 2030.
Major Campaigns Promoting Change
Coinciding with the release of this film is the culmination of Street Child United's #IAmSomebody Tour, a program in collaboration with Bank of America that brought young leaders from the Street Child World Cup into North American communities during the FIFA World Cup 2026™. Under Beckham's influence, these young leaders shared their transformative stories and the role of sports in fostering positive change within their communities.
As Beckham eloquently stated, “Football has provided me with opportunities beyond my imagination. This campaign shines a light on young individuals who have bravely faced countless obstacles, and by supporting organizations like Street Child United, we are helping these youths to be seen, heard, and empowered to build a brighter future.”
A Collective Effort
The film's outreach is further bolstered by the collaboration with U2, who have long supported Street Child United. Following their visit to the 2026 Street Child World Cup in Mexico City, the band acknowledged the pivotal role sports can play in granting a voice and a stage to these overlooked and talented children. Larry Mullen of U2 mentioned, “Street Child United is making a significant impact by celebrating these young athletes for who they truly are, rather than who they've been forced to become due to their circumstances.”
Behind the Scenes
Directed by the acclaimed team of Radha Ganti and Robert Lopuski, Street of Dreams presents a visually striking narrative intertwined with an intimate exploration of resilience and hope. King She, one of the directors, remarked on the ambitious nature of the project, underscoring the importance of belief and support as they intertwine narratives of football, self-discovery, and imagination.
Moreover, in conjunction with the film, a 30-second commercial will air during the World Cup coverage by Fox and Telemundo starting July 13, 2026, reinforcing Bank of America’s commitment to facilitating dreams through sports. The bank emphasizes that achieving goals often requires not only skill but also unwavering support.
