Exciting New Opportunities Await at the American Diabetes Association's 2026 Camps

Registration Now Open for 2026 ADA Camps

The American Diabetes Association (ADA) is thrilled to announce that registration is officially open for its 2026 camp season. For over 70 years, ADA Camp has provided children with diabetes a unique opportunity to learn vital skills for managing their condition while forging connections in a safe and fun environment.

A Welcoming Space for Kids with Diabetes

These camps are designed for children, teens, and their families, ensuring a medically supervised atmosphere where they can experience not only education but also camaraderie with peers facing similar challenges. With over 40 camps situated across 28 states, the ADA offers a blend of traditional camp activities and crucial diabetes education tailored for various age groups, including adults.

Charles 'Chuck' Henderson, CEO of the ADA, emphasized the significance of these camps by stating, "ADA camps meld a traditional camp experience with essential education, enabling campers to cultivate skills needed for effective diabetes management. Additionally, it serves as a nurturing environment where friendships can blossom."

Bridging the Gap for Families

Within the United States, about 364,000 children and adolescents live with diabetes, of which 314,000 suffer from type 1 diabetes. The daily burden of managing this condition can lead to feelings of loneliness and stress for both children and their families. ADA Camps offer a supportive respite, encouraging personal growth and the development of lifelong friendships.

Among the new offerings this year are exciting camp options such as:
  • - Camp Limitless (Missouri)
  • - Camp Trailblazers for families impacted by type 2 diabetes (California)
  • - Camp Korelitz Teen Weekend (Ohio)
  • - Camp Carolina Trails Adult Weekend (North Carolina)
  • - Camp AZDA Teen Weekend (Arizona)

Building Skills and Confidence

Feedback from families who have attended these camps underscores their lasting impact. Parents reported significant improvements in their children's diabetes management and overall confidence after participating in the program. According to recent surveys, campers acquired new skills such as:
  • - Administering insulin correctly
  • - Rotating injection sites
  • - Counting carbohydrates accurately
  • - Changing insulin pump sets
  • - Recognizing low blood sugar levels
  • - Making healthier food choices

Committed to Accessibility

Thanks to generous donations and sponsorships, the ADA is able to provide reduced fees and financial assistance to families in need. This ensures that every child, regardless of their economic situation, can enjoy the transformative experience that ADA Camp offers.
