CLIP Corporation Unveils Guidelines to Eliminate Video Leak Risks for Unreleased Content

CLIP Corporation Ensures No Leak Risks for Unreleased Video Content

In a significant step towards addressing the rising concerns of information leaks in the video editing industry, CLIP Corporation (based in Shibuya, Tokyo), led by CEO Shinji Yamamoto, has officially launched its "Unreleased Video Footage Handling Guidelines (Draft Version 1.0)." This document aims to manage extremely confidential unreleased video material, including films, dramas, and pre-broadcast programs, safely and rigorously, officially releasing its guidelines on December 8, 2025.

Background and Key Focus of the Guidelines

With the recent boom in the creation of cutout videos and short promotional clips, the demand for handling confidential materials has surged substantially. Recognizing the need for a robust system that allows major TV networks, film distribution companies, and IP holders to securely entrust their materials, CLIP has clearly delineated operations designed to structurally eliminate information leak risks.

Historically, the cutout video industry has faced grave concerns regarding potential leaks from "editing on personal devices" and "unrestricted duplication." In light of these vulnerabilities, CLIP prioritized not only the "quality of creativity" but also deemed "quality of security" equally essential. The company has meticulously outlined responsibilities across people, devices, networks, logs, and accountability.

Main Features of the Guidelines

To effectively eliminate information leak risks, CLIP has instituted strict limitations and management standards throughout all phases involving people, devices, networks, and data logs.

1. Access Control for Personnel and Environments
- Limited Handling Responsibility: Only designated individuals—including the CEO, security management officers, and the minimally required editing personnel for specific projects—are permitted direct access to sensitive materials. No external contractors or third-party viewers are allowed.
- Mandatory Use of Specified Equipment: Handling can only be performed on company-designated PCs and within company-selected networks (fixed IP/VPN). Personal devices, public Wi-Fi, external storage media, and screen sharing are completely prohibited.

2. Mandatory Data Management and Leak Prevention
- Forced Watermark Display: To ensure immediate identification in case of a leak, CLIP will permanently burn in the company name, responsible individual's name, handling date, and designation as "CONFIDENTIAL" on all materials received.
- Principle of No Downloads: Materials will primarily be received in streaming format. In exceptional cases where files are needed, they will be encrypted ZIP files, delivered to one designated recipient only, with hash values and other records made mandatory.
- Strict Retention and Deletion Policies: Materials for preview can be retained for a maximum of 72 hours, while editing materials can only be held for 7 days, mandating complete deletion after expiry.

3. Emergency Response and Log Maintenance
- Three-Year Log Retention: All logs, encompassing material names, viewers, timestamps, viewing IPs, and activities, will be recorded and preserved for three years, establishing a traceable framework for post-incident verification.
- Immediate Response Protocols: In case of accidents such as misdirected transmissions, unauthorized access, or suspected leaks, a set procedure has been formalized to ensure access blocking, log preservation, and first reporting to clients within ten minutes.

Designed for Collaboration with Major Clients

These guidelines have been set up with practical collaboration in mind, tailored for film distribution companies, broadcasting networks, anime production committees, and IP holders.

CLIP has constructed a security operation system that enables clients to determine the adequacy of their practices based on whether they can safely entrust unreleased materials, far exceeding just determining if it is safe to share.

A Statement from the CEO

Shinji Yamamoto, CEO of CLIP Corporation, stated:

"Cutout videos and short videos have become a 'frontline distribution channel' in the IP business. Thus, we prioritize not just being a 'scalable company' but fundamentally a 'company you can rely on.' These guidelines represent the operational foundation for obtaining long-term trust in the IP business."
