JTB Donates 36,000 Books to UN Pavilion for 2025 Osaka Expo

JTB's Contribution to the 2025 Osaka Expo

In a remarkable initiative, JTB has announced the donation of approximately 36,000 copies of its beloved 'Rurubu' books to the UN Pavilion at the 2025 World Expo in Osaka. This donation comprises 19 different titles designed to engage the minds of children and ignite their curiosity about the world around them.

The UN Pavilion is a collaborative effort involving 35 different UN agencies and 15 departments of the UN Secretariat. Under the thought-provoking theme “United for a Better Future,” the pavilion will feature a variety of exhibits and programs that highlight humanity's strength through collaboration. The initiative aims to communicate the crucial vision of a sustainable future to the younger generation, focusing on the UN's 80-year history, the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), and the importance of multi-stakeholder cooperation in overcoming global challenges.

As part of this program, JTB’s 'Rurubu Manga and Quiz Series' was specifically crafted to resonate with children. It utilizes engaging content that includes comics and quizzes to create a fun and easy way for children to learn. This approach is designed to keep young readers interested as they explore vital topics such as sustainability and global citizenship. The books will be available to the children visiting the UN Pavilion, fostering an environment of inquiry and adventure.

The distribution days are set for June 15, July 5, July 12, July 19, July 20, July 26, and July 27, with operating hours from 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. It’s important to note that distribution will be limited to visitors of the UN Pavilion, and the selection of books will vary by day, with no option for visitors to choose specific titles.

Voices from Leaders

Goku Kitamura, JTB’s Executive Officer and representative for the West Japan area, expressed the company's pride in aligning with the UN Pavilion for the Expo. We are honored to deliver 'Rurubu' to guests and hope to encourage children's interest in a better future through their visit to the UN Pavilion.”
