Innovative Healthcare Solutions by Health On Cloud Set for Expansion in Latin America
Health On Cloud Showcases Healthcare Innovations in Latin America
Health On Cloud (HOC) is paving the way for modern healthcare solutions in Latin America, notably Colombia, through innovative digital technologies. Recently, at the Korea-Latin America and Caribbean (LAC) Trade and Innovation Forum held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, HOC unveiled its groundbreaking healthcare platforms, CURISALL and MEDTIS. These platforms are set to enhance medical services, beginning with a successful pilot project funded by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB).
The Korea-LAC Forum has a rich history, having started in 2007 as a collaborative effort between the IDB and the Korean government. This year's event saw over 400 companies from 23 countries in Latin America come together to foster trade and innovation, with Brazil being a significant partner due to its G20 status. HOC, a promising startup supported by the IDB, is leading a digital transformation initiative in Colombia’s healthcare sector.
Implementing CURISALL and MEDTIS allows HOC to provide crucial remote consultations for serious health conditions such as cancers and cardiovascular diseases. Additionally, they are offering cloud-based medical training facilitated by leading global physicians to enhance the skills of healthcare specialists in Colombia.
A highlight of the forum was the introduction of the Smart Hospital Alliance by Professor Ralph Mackinnon, HOC UK's Director. This initiative promotes collaboration among preeminent hospitals worldwide. Michael Dowding, HOC’s Chief Innovation Officer, showcased a remarkable example of telemedicine by coordinating simultaneous consultations with specialists from various countries including Korea, Colombia, India, and the UK. This impressive feat garnered attention and praise from attendees, marking a significant step for telemedicine in the region.
Moreover, HOC aims to expand beyond Colombia as they look toward Mexico and Brazil in early 2025 with innovative solutions targeting specific healthcare needs. In Mexico, efforts will focus on addressing metabolic diseases and diabetes, while Brazil will prioritize cardiovascular and oncological care.
Dr. Sanghoon Jheon, Chair of HOC’s Advisory Committee, emphasized the importance of these advancements during his keynote speech. He concluded that the successful pilot project in Colombia not only showcases Korea's advanced medical technologies but also opens doors to integrating high-quality healthcare infrastructures in emerging markets like Latin America.
The pilot incorporates cutting-edge technologies such as KT’s AI-based Thyroid Ultrasound Interpretation System, which is being tested in major hospitals in Bogotá. This initiative aligns with global healthcare trends while addressing localized needs, demonstrating HOC's commitment to improving health outcomes in Latin America.
In summary, Health On Cloud's innovative approaches signify a new era for the Latin American healthcare sector, fostering an environment of collaboration, advanced technology, and improved access to medical care across the region. As it ventures into Mexico and Brazil, the anticipation around its impactful solutions continues to grow, promising to change the landscape of healthcare in Latin America for the better.
