41st Trade Expo Indonesia: Enhancing Export Competitiveness and Market Access
Unleashing Potential: The 41st Trade Expo Indonesia
The 41st Trade Expo Indonesia (TEI) 2026, organized by Debindo (PT Debindomulti Adhiswasti), showcases the country's commitment to enhancing its export capabilities and economic resilience. Kicking off on October 14 at the Indonesia Convention Exhibition (ICE) in BSD City, this major international trade fair runs until October 18 and is themed "The Ultimate Hub for Global Sourcing."
A Platform for Growth
At this year's event, a record number of 1,873 exhibitors from Indonesia gathered to attract buyers from across the globe. The opening ceremony was graced by the Minister of Industrialization and Energy Transition, Bahlil Lahadalia, who emphasized that industrialization plays a key role in maximizing the value of Indonesia's natural resources while promoting national economic self-sufficiency.
Aiming to attract 30,000 visitors, TEI 2026 has already registered buyers from 134 countries and aims to generate an impressive $17.5 billion in potential transactions. On the first day alone, 168 memorandums of understanding (MoUs) are expected to be signed between Indonesian exporters and foreign buyers.
Connecting Domestic and Global Markets
TEI serves as a crucial link between Indonesian businesses and global markets, showcasing a diverse array of products, including food and beverages, agricultural goods, textiles, handicrafts, and home decor. This year, alongside consumer goods, the fair highlights industrial parks and investment opportunities in various sectors.
The event aligns with the Ministry of Trade's goals to solidify the domestic market, expand export markets, and transition businesses from local to global. Minister of Trade Budi Santoso stated that the ministry has facilitated 25 trade agreements to date, with another 13 currently under negotiation.
Supporting Small and Medium Enterprises
The Ministry is making significant efforts to bolster exports from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) through its network of 46 trade representation offices across 33 countries. Initiatives such as Desa BISA Ekspor focus on developing rural products for export, while collaboration with national retail sectors aims to boost local sales. The Campuspreneur program engages 25 universities to encourage student entrepreneurship with a focus on exporting goods.
Furthermore, Minister of Food Affairs Zulkifli Hasan highlighted the potential in non-traditional markets, particularly across South Asia and Africa, including countries like Bangladesh, Pakistan, and India.
Recognizing Excellence and Partnership
During the opening ceremony, outstanding exporters and regional leaders were awarded the Primaniyarta Award, while international partners, diaspora members, and Indonesian representatives abroad received the Primaduta Award. Additionally, students tracking the highest volume of transactions during TEI 2026 will be acknowledged with the Campuspreneur Award.
TEI 2026 benefits from strategic partnerships with organizations like Pertamina and Bank Mandiri, and supports from Kadin Indonesia and LPEI. The fair is intricately organized by Debindo to drive trade, foster partnerships, and boost Indonesia's global export presence.
In conclusion, the Trade Expo Indonesia stands as a hallmark of Indonesia's commitment to economic growth, innovation, and competitive exports. By bringing together local businesses and international buyers in a thriving environment, TEI 2026 exemplifies the nation's ambition to enhance its global market footprint and export capacity.
