ALTA Good Deeds Foundation Unveils New Board Leadership and Officer Appointments

ALTA Good Deeds Foundation Welcomes New Leadership

The ALTA Good Deeds Foundation, a well-recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit established by the American Land Title Association (ALTA), has unveiled significant appointments to its board of directors. These changes pay tribute to the late Mary O'Donnell, who served as chair until her passing in 2025. O'Donnell's legacy of charitable impact and community service continues to influence the organization's mission.

New Board Chair and Vice Chair

Steve Day, a seasoned professional and former ALTA Past President, has been named the new chair of the Foundation. He brings his vast experience from his role as the executive vice president at Fidelity National Title Group, which is located in Jacksonville, Florida. Day succeeds O'Donnell and is poised to guide the Foundation's strategic vision and fundraising endeavors. In his passionate tribute, Day stated, "Mary's leadership and generosity set a standard we honor every day. I am proud to step into this role and continue the Foundation's mission to support the charitable efforts of title professionals as they work to build and strengthen their local communities."

Alongside him, Scott Chandler, who serves as the vice president and senior advisor at Ardán in Maitland, Florida, will take on the role of vice chair. This new position reflects the expanded leadership responsibilities Chandler will have within the Foundation. Chandler, who worked closely with O'Donnell during her tenure, expressed his sentiments by saying, "Mary was a mentor and friend whose spirit continues to inspire all of us. I’m honored to serve as vice chair and to build upon the Foundation she helped create."

Welcoming New Board Member

Additionally, the Foundation welcomes Jeffrey Bates, CEO of D. Bello in Newport Beach, California, as a newly appointed board member. With more than 20 years of experience in the industry, Bates has led D. Bello's impressive growth and has been recognized nationally for innovation in workforce solutions. Emphasizing the Foundation's commitment to community, Bates remarked, "Title professionals are deeply rooted in the communities we serve, and the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation helps us turn that commitment into real impact. I’m honored to join the board and support the Foundation's work to strengthen local nonprofits and the people who rely on them."

Foundation’s Impact

Since its inception in 2020, the ALTA Good Deeds Foundation has made a significant mark, granting over $1.36 million to various nonprofit organizations across 46 states and the District of Columbia. Through these efforts, the Foundation has demonstrated its ongoing commitment to philanthropy and social responsibility within the land title insurance industry.
