Visiting Angels Honors Tammy Tome as the 2025 National Caregiver of the Year

Visiting Angels Recognizes Outstanding Caregiver

On July 1, 2025, Visiting Angels announced that Tammy Tome, a caregiver from York, Pennsylvania, has been honored as the 2025 National Caregiver of the Year. This prestigious recognition highlights her extraordinary dedication and profound impact on the lives of seniors across the country.

Visiting Angels, the leading provider of in-home senior care in the United States, celebrates caregivers who demonstrate exceptional compassion and skill in their roles. Out of numerous nominations nationwide, Tammy was chosen for her unwavering support and commitment.

A True Advocate for Seniors

With 25 years of caregiving experience, including the past two with Visiting Angels, Tammy has made a significant difference in the lives of her clients, ensuring they receive both physical and emotional support. She once took care of a client living in a shelter, providing consistent care that played a crucial role in his journey to stable housing. This client attributes his renewed sense of self-worth to Tammy's compassionate approach, stating she helped him feel like a “real person” again.

The wife of another client shared how Tammy serves as 'the wind behind their backs'—a beacon of hope during challenging times. She emphasizes that Tammy is like having a manual for navigating Parkinson’s disease, demonstrating her understanding of complex health conditions and her ability to meet clients exactly where they are.

Corporate Praise

Larry Meigs, the CEO of Visiting Angels, praised Tammy’s contribution, stating, "Tammy doesn't just care for people; she reinforces their dignity and provides families with hope. We’re honored to recognize her with this title." His words reflect the deep respect and appreciation for caregivers like Tammy.

As part of her recognition, Tammy will receive a check for $10,000 and a special award at an upcoming ceremony, celebrating her hard work and dedication.

Honoring Other Exceptional Caregivers

The award ceremony will also recognize other exceptional caregivers. Esperanza 'Marty' Lusby from Visiting Angels Kennewick, Washington, and Cherry Seibers from Visiting Angels Cookeville, Tennessee, were named finalists, each exemplifying outstanding qualities in caregiving. Marty, who has provided over 20,000 hours of care since 2008, is cherished by her clients for her joyful spirit, while Cherry is known for her unwavering commitment, having never missed a shift in 11 years.

Both Marty and Cherry will receive a $5,000 check and a special award as further recognition of their remarkable service, along with seven semi-finalists who will each receive $1,000.
