Huawei Unveils Groundbreaking Solutions for AI-Centric Networks
At the recent Green All-Optical Network Forum, held during MWC 25 in Barcelona, Kim Jin, Vice President of the Optical Product Line at Huawei, introduced four revolutionary all-optical solutions designed for global operators. These solutions are crucial for creating AI-centric F5.5G all-optical networks, driving advancements in the intelligent era, which is rapidly progressing and requiring enhanced network capabilities.
The Need for Speed
The global AI landscape is evolving at breakneck speed, with a soaring demand for home broadband that offers speeds of up to 10 Gbit/s and fully optical metro networks operating at a latency of just 1 millisecond. Identifying this trend, Huawei’s new offerings facilitate operators in deploying end-to-end network tools, transforming traditional operations into efficient, high-speed networks.
Upgrading Optical Access Networks
As the use of AI continues to escalate, the need for operators to upgrade their networks to 50G PON becomes paramount. Huawei’s latest solutions include several new models: X15, X8, and X2, alongside the previously launched MA5800T X17. These models offer the highest transmission capacity in the industry and support dense 50G PON architectures, which is critical for fulfilling the growing demand over the next decade. With a remarkable 16-port density, these models allow for one-to-one inventory replacements, optimizing resources.
Enhancements in Metro Networks
Last year, Huawei introduced the AI-oriented All-optical Metro Architecture, achieving a latency of 1 millisecond for various applications. Building on this foundation, the company has now launched the industry's fastest 2T single-wavelength card solution. This advancement increases the capacity from 1.6 Tbit/s to an impressive 2 Tbit/s, effectively lowering the cost per bit by 20%. Additional features include real-time traffic monitoring which enables proactive energy management, significantly reducing power consumption by up to 50%.
Backbone Network Innovations
The OSN 9800 K-series, also unveiled last year, was the first DC-oriented OTN solution of its kind. The newly introduced K12 model expands the range of scenarios supported and improves performance metrics by 30%. It extends the transmission capacity for 800G applications an impressive 1,000 kilometers further. With enhanced algorithms reducing optical rerouting time from 10 seconds to less than 50 milliseconds, Huawei’s solution maintains nearly perfect network availability at 99.9999%. The introduction of hitless switching capabilities reinforces AI performance across networks, ensuring seamless operation.
Intelligent Management and Control
Incorporating AI into its management solutions, Huawei's iMaster NCE platform introduces intelligent capabilities for network oversight. For optical access, its HBB Agent can identify and resolve quality issues, autonomously addressing problems within a minute. Similarly, for optical transmission, the digital card enables rapid identification of network risks, resolving them within 15 minutes, which significantly mitigates user complaints by 60%.
Kim Jin emphasized, "AI is rapidly transforming the world while presenting unprecedented opportunities for optical networks. Huawei is continuously innovating to assist operators in building high-quality, efficient AI-centric F5.5G optical networks, capturing the next wave of technological advancement." These innovations serve as a testament to Huawei's commitment to leading in the all-optical network revolution in the era of artificial intelligence.
