Universal Technical Institute Expands North Star Strategy with New Phoenix Facility for Healthcare Programs

Universal Technical Institute, Inc. (UTI), a prominent force in the workforce training sector, is making significant strides with its ongoing North Star strategy aimed at tackling the skilled labor shortage in America. Recently, the organization announced the selection of Phoenix, Arizona, as the site for their new Concorde Division facility, which will focus on healthcare training programs. This move comes at a crucial time as the demand for skilled healthcare professionals continues to escalate across the nation.

In a statement, Todd Hitchcock, Chief Operating Officer of Universal Technical Institute, emphasized the importance of the strategic growth in addressing current workforce needs. He noted, "The momentum created by the strong execution of our North Star strategy is accelerating as we expand into markets that seek the skilled workers our training programs deliver." Phoenix, recognized for its vibrant economy and a burgeoning population, is particularly well-positioned for such an expansion, especially in the healthcare sector.

With the rapid growth of its healthcare programs, Universal Technical Institute has entered Phase II of its North Star strategy, which includes the establishment of several new campuses annually from 2026 to 2029, as well as the rollout of approximately 20 new programs each year. This strategic initiative is not only about increasing numbers but also about enhancing existing operations for better efficiency.

The new Concorde-Phoenix facility is slated to open in 2027 and will be located at 8990 W. Glendale Ave. in Glendale, Arizona. The state-of-the-art facility will cover around 53,000 square feet and is designed to accommodate over 620 students aspiring to careers in a variety of healthcare fields, including nursing, dental assisting, medical assisting, physical therapy assisting, pharmacy technology, surgical technology, and radiologic technology.

Kevin Prehn, Division President for Concorde Career Colleges, expressed optimism about the new facility's potential, stating, "Phoenix is a vibrant hub of economic growth with a robust healthcare sector. We look forward to collaborating with local hospitals, clinics, and dental providers to meet their workforce needs while preparing the next generation of healthcare professionals in the region."

The establishment of the Concorde-Phoenix facility aligns with UTI's commitment to innovation and excellence in workforce education, as it aims to provide high-quality training that meets market demands. However, the opening and specific program offerings will depend on approvals from state authorities, accreditors, and the U.S. Department of Education.

Aside from the healthcare facility in Phoenix, Universal Technical Institute has plans for additional campuses, including Concorde outlets in Atlanta and Houston, as well as UTI in Salt Lake City, among others. This expansion reflects UTI's ongoing dedication to addressing workforce shortages nationwide by equipping students with in-demand skills and career opportunities.

As part of its continuous commitment to transparency, Universal Technical Institute plans to share updates regarding its operations. Their first quarter Fiscal 2026 earnings call is scheduled for February 4, 2026, at 4:30 PM ET, which will provide investors with further insights into the company's strategic initiatives and financial performance. UTI remains a pivotal educational institution, dedicated to nurturing skilled professionals for vital industries in the U.S. and is positioned to make a lasting impact through its dedicated programs and facilities in healthcare and beyond.
