Urgent Consumer Alert: Hermixa 6-in-1 Convertible Crib Recalled Due to Serious Safety Hazards

Urgent Recall Notice for Hermixa 6-in-1 Convertible Crib

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has issued an urgent warning regarding the Hermixa 6-in-1 Convertible Crib, highlighting severe safety risks that pose potential hazards to young children. Consumers are advised to stop using this crib immediately due to reported safety violations, including risks of suffocation and falls.

Key Safety Concerns

1. Wider Slat Spacing: The crib's slat spacing exceeds federally mandated safety standards. This creates significant entrapment risks, endangering infants who might become stuck between the slats.

2. Bedside Sleeper Mode Hazards: When used in the bedside sleeper configuration, this crib presents fall hazards. The side rail is notably lower than the required height, and the crib lacks a secure attachment mechanism to adult beds. These failures violate the federal safety regulations governing bedside sleepers.

3. Inappropriate Mattress Thickness: The mattresses supplied with the crib are too thick, which could lead to fatal suffocation incidents. Such mattresses contravene federal regulations that govern crib mattress dimensions and safety.

4. Padded Crib Bumper Dangers: The product is sold complete with a padded crib bumper. This item can obstruct an infant's breathing, creating a suffocation risk. Under federal law, padded crib bumpers are prohibited due to these dangers.

Product Details

The Hermixa 6-in-1 Convertible Crib is designed to transform between a bedside sleeper, toddler bed, cradle, rocker, and even a desk, making it purportedly versatile. It features slats on both sides, a solid white headboard, and footboard, and contains under-crib storage space. Additionally, a five-piece bedding set accompanies the crib, which includes a pink mattress pad, a bunny-themed blanket, sheets (available in pink or blue), and a pillow with a crown design. Notably, the crib was sold for about $250 on Amazon.com from February 2024 until August 2024.

The crib’s manufacturer, Shucheng Aidou Trading Co., Ltd., is printed on its packaging, but no labels were affixed directly on the crib itself. Following the identification of these safety issues, the CPSC has issued a Notice of Violation against the seller, Zhang Jun, based in China. Unfortunately, no recall or remedy has been proposed thus far by the seller, prompting the CPSC to take further public safety action.

Consumer Guidance

Consumers are strongly encouraged to immediately cease using any Hermixa 6-in-1 Convertible Cribs and to dispose of them appropriately. The CPSC explicitly advises against selling or donating these potentially hazardous products, as they pose serious risks.
