GRAI Joins Forces with MassiveMusic for Innovative Music Streaming Infrastructure
In a significant move for the music streaming industry, GRAI, an innovative AI-driven music company, has teamed up with MassiveMusic, a prominent player in global music delivery. This partnership is designed to enhance GRAI's upcoming social streaming service by providing scalable catalog delivery and robust metadata. Moreover, it secures a specialized dataset licensed for training GRAI's advanced music model.
The collaboration begins with MassiveMusic supplying a comprehensive set of commercial repertoire to GRAI through a streamlined delivery method. This system allows GRAI access to a variety of independent and distributor catalogs, established through MassiveMusic's well-regarded rights-holder agreements. As a result, approved tracks will become available on GRAI in a matter of minutes after being dispatched by MassiveMusic, ensuring a quick launching process.
Importantly, artists and rights holders will receive fair compensation and detailed usage reports for their works utilized on GRAI. In conjunction with the catalog, MassiveMusic provides enhanced metadata, which describes songs through over 30 different attributes. This data includes mood, energy levels, instrumentation, key, and even the era of the music. Such detailed metadata will help GRAI refine its song recommendations, enabling new listeners to discover their next favorite track right from their first interaction with the platform. Users will be able to search for music that fits their mood or preferences, even before accumulating a social circle on GRAI.
"In engineering, it is vital to ensure that the foundational elements are sound to avoid complications later on. For GRAI, prioritizing 'rights before code' was essential, ensuring clarity and compliance in our operational framework from the outset," stated Dzmitry Kamarouski, the Chief Technology Officer and co-founder of GRAI.
The agreement also extends to AI training. GRAI will utilize a dedicated dataset, specifically approved for training through MassiveMusic's opt-in system. The model being developed is capable of understanding all musical components, including melody, harmony, and rhythm, facilitating a more sophisticated and nuanced music generation process.
"Innovation and compliance are crucial pillars for GRAI. Our partnership has allowed us to create a music platform that can scale effectively, supported by a licensed dataset designed for ethical AI training while ensuring comprehensive catalog delivery enriched by our proprietary metadata," remarked James Priestley, Senior Vice President for Global Sales, Licensing, and Technology at MassiveMusic.
Furthermore, GRAI is among the initial companies to license the patents from Music IP Holdings. This technology allows the integration of recorded music with AI, covering aspects from creation to authorization to payment, ultimately aiming to empower users to contribute creatively to the songs they adore, with appropriate compensation for all right holders involved.
In a related development, GRAI recently announced the acquisition of Hangout, a social music platform developed by the creators of Turntable.fm. This strategic move is part of GRAI's broader vision to establish a social experience within music streaming. Early versions of GRAI are currently undergoing testing with a small catalog from MassiveMusic, setting the stage for its anticipated public launch. Interested users can join the waitlist at grai.fm.
GRAI is on a mission to reshape the social streaming landscape, offering a dedicated space for a younger audience to share and enjoy music together, as well as engage with it in ways never before possible. With a team comprising members who previously developed the successful video-editing app Vochi, GRAI is backed by significant seed funding from prominent investors such as Khosla Ventures and Inovo VC.
On the other hand, MassiveMusic stands as a leading global partner for music and sound, renowned for its ability to provide creative solutions driven by data and innovative technology. Their commitment to delivering transformative music strategies helps shape the future of sound, making them a strong ally for GRAI on this journey.
Through this strategic partnership, both companies hope to usher in a new era of music sharing and collaboration, one where access to music is seamless and interaction between users is increasingly meaningful.
