At Home Introduces API Collaboration with Iwakuni City’s Vacant House Bank

At Home Initiates API Collaboration with Iwakuni City’s Vacant House Bank

At Home, Inc., a real estate information service provider based in Ota City, Tokyo, has announced the start of its API collaboration with the vacant house bank operated by Iwakuni City, Yamaguchi Prefecture. This integration is set to begin in October 2025 and represents the seventh such collaboration across the nation as of that date.

Overview of the Collaboration

This collaboration allows the property information registered under the Iwakuni City Vacant House Bank, known as "Inaka Living Guide," to be automatically reflected in the At Home Vacant House Bank. This process is expected to alleviate the operational challenges associated with registering, updating, and publishing property information. The ability to streamline these tasks means that resources can be better allocated towards enhancing other areas of the service.

At Home is committed to contributing to solutions for challenges associated with management of municipal vacant house banks and to boosting the circulation of vacant house information through ongoing collaborations between various vacant house banks.

Background of the API Collaboration

As part of broader measures addressing vacant houses, there has been a movement towards promoting the circulation and effective utilization of these properties to invigorate local communities. The implementation of vacant house banks by local governments reflects this trend and aims to standardize and consolidate information regarding vacant houses across the nation.

In response to this need, At Home launched the nationwide Vacant House and Vacant Land Bank in October 2017, allowing for easy access and searching capabilities for anyone across the country. After beginning full-scale operations in April 2018, At Home developed a system to facilitate the efficient registration of properties in the vacant house bank by local government staff. This API collaboration officially commenced its services in April 2023.

What is the At Home Vacant House Bank?

Founded in October 2017, the At Home Vacant House Bank operates as part of a model project related to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism’s initiative to construct and manage a nationwide vacant house and land bank.

The At Home Vacant House Bank not only aggregates and allows searches for vacant house listings nationwide, but also provides thematic property searches. Additionally, it aims to support consumers with relevant content and features that promote regional attractions and initiatives regarding migration and residency, thereby enhancing awareness of local government undertakings.

As of the end of September 2025, the number of participating municipalities is expected to reach 875, with the number of properties listed surpassing 10,000. At Home is dedicated to consistently providing valuable information to consumers interested in leveraging vacant houses and lands, contributing to the revitalization of communities across Japan.
