Upcoming Figure Skating Events on FOD Premium
FOD Premium has announced the live streaming of all events featuring participants from the 2025 Japan National Novice Championships and the East and West Japan Championships, where spots for the national championship will be contested. Event Details
2025 Japan National Novice Championships
Scheduled to take place from October 18 to October 19, this year's competition, marking its 29th edition, will be held at the KOSE Shin-Yokohama Skate Center in Kanagawa Prefecture. This championship is renowned as a stepping stone for many of Japan's top skaters, including Olympic stars such as Yuzuru Hanyu, Shoma Uno, and Kaori Sakamoto, who all have previous victories in the novice category. Riku Sakuma will be looking to defend his title this year.
2025 East Japan Championships & Pairs Qualifying
The East Japan Championships will be held from October 24 to October 26, and it will take place at the Yamashin Swimming Arena in Ibaraki Prefecture. Athletes will compete for a chance to advance to the Japan Championships and Japan Junior Championships. Key competitors include Mana Kawabe, an Olympic representative from the Beijing Olympics, and Yua Takagi, who has shown remarkable performance in the Junior Grand Prix series. The pairs competition will feature Yuna Nagaoka and Satoshi Moriguchi, who recently secured a second quota for pairs at the final qualifying event for the Milan-Cortina Olympics.
2025 West Japan Championships & Ice Dance Qualifying
From November 1 to November 3, the West Japan Championships, alongside the Ice Dance qualifying rounds, will set the stage at the Kinoshita Kansei Ice Arena in Shiga Prefecture. High-level competitions are anticipated, especially in the Senior Women’s category, featuring renowned competitors like Mai Mihara and Saki Miyake, as well as last year's 6th place finisher, Mako Yamashita. The ice dance portion will also be a highlight, with the newly formed team, Ikuko Kushida and Takashiro Shimada, as well as Rika Kihira paired with Mako Nishiyama.

Prominent skaters participating include Karen Miyazaki and Riku Sakuma for the Novice Championship, Mana Kawabe, Maria Egawa, Seina Miyake, Nozomi Yoshioka, and Yua Takagi in the East Japan Championships. The Ice Dance qualifiers will see teams such as Ikuko Kushida and Takashiro Shimada and Rika Kihira and Mako Nishiyama. In the West Japan Championships, skaters like Mai Mihara, Mako Yamashita, and many others are expected to participate.
