Overview of the Event
On October 27, 2025, Okayama University, located in Okayama City, held its first advanced curriculum course under the 'TC College' for medical engineering. This event took place both in-person and online, allowing for greater accessibility to participants. The course aims to enhance the skills and knowledge of technical staff, aligning with national efforts to elevate the capabilities of scientific and technical personnel.
The event commenced with a greeting from Nobuhito Sato, the Vice President and Director of the Comprehensive Technology Division, who emphasized the significance of the government's recent report from the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology about future directions for scientific and technological human resources. He highlighted the importance of technical staff in advancing their careers through core activities in technology research, calling for both short-term and long-term strategic engagement in these initiatives.
Following the opening remarks, specialized technical staff member Hideo Ueki delivered a presentation titled 'Production of Stable Cell Lines.' In this discourse, he explained the methodologies for cell line expression systems, their purposes, and the processes involved in their production through an effective comparative analysis of various techniques.
As the presentation concluded, there was an enthusiastic question-and-answer session led by Moei Tsukano, the chief technician in the medical technology department, where attendees actively engaged in discussions, making the event a valuable exchange of knowledge.
Objectives of the Medical Engineering Course
The 'Medical Engineering Course' not only facilitates the sharing of knowledge and skills through daily operations and research support but also aims to enhance the presentation and questioning skills essential for the so-called TC (Technical Conductor) certification. Participants are encouraged to use these sessions as opportunities to develop paper topics necessary for acquiring the TC title.
The Comprehensive Technology Division plans to continue fostering collaboration among technical staff while also striving to elevate their skills through a variety of training programs. This commitment enhances Okayama University's position as a prominent research and education institution in the region. The involvement in initiatives such as the Ministry of Education's J-PEAKS project emphasizes the university's long-term vision for 2025 and strategic progression towards value creation.
Future Directions
Okayama University engages in continued efforts to innovate and foster collaboration not just within the institution but also with local communities and global networks. The institution is dedicated to creating a transformative future for society through scientific advancement, led by its highly skilled technical staff. As a participant in national and regional programs, the university strives to fulfill its mission as a leading research university that contributes to the development of society and the planet.
We invite everyone to watch for further developments as Okayama University continues its endeavors to not only enhance the capabilities of its technical staff but also to promote scientific excellence within the community. The upcoming events aim to produce knowledgeable and skilled personnel capable of driving innovation in medical engineering and beyond.
