Vision Films Announces Acquisition of Environmental Documentary 'In The Company of Wolves' Narrated by Jeff Bridges

Vision Films Acquires 'In The Company of Wolves'

Vision Films Inc., a notable name in independent film distribution, has just made headlines with the acquisition of the documentary titled In The Company of Wolves: An American Journey. The film is narrated by Academy Award-winner Jeff Bridges and directed by award-winning filmmaker Susan Kucera. This marks the third collaboration between Kucera and Bridges, and they aim to debut the film at the prestigious Cannes Film Festival on May 15, 2026, at the Olympia Theater. Following the festival, a limited theatrical release will follow, with availability on transactional video on demand (TVOD) set for July 17, 2026.

The documentary dives deep into the intricate relationship humans have had with wolves and other animals throughout American history. From the shores of England to the emergence of the new Republic and the westward expansion, it highlights how our connections with these creatures have significantly shaped American culture, folklore, and national identity — arguably altering the course of history as much as human influence.

The substantial insight provided by In The Company of Wolves is enriched with commentary from figures such as members of the Eastern Shoshone Tribe and Crow Nation, renowned historians, and the bestselling author Michelle Paver, known for her Wolf Brothers series, which has sold over three million copies globally. The film features an evocative original score composed by Keefus Ciancia, whose previous credits include True Detective and Living in The Future’s Past.

Lise Romanoff, CEO and Managing Director of Vision Films, expressed pride in partnering once more with Kucera for this critical project. She stated, “We are honorably bringing the essential message of In The Company of Wolves to global audiences. This film serves not just as a visual journey but as an influential reminder of the importance of respecting and preserving the ecosystem.”

Kucera emphasized that the film reframes the American mythos by focusing on the relationships that have helped shape the nation, surpassing merely human ambitions.

Bridges added, “The documentary serves as a reminder that both wild and domesticated animals reflect the deeper narrative of our identity as a nation, and the potential futures we may forge.” Using his participation in this film to aid various conservation organizations, Bridges has directed part of his compensation to efforts like the Vital Ground Foundation, which focuses on connecting and protecting wildlife habitat across the Northern Rocky Mountains.

Additional contributors to the project include notable science writer David Quammen, who has written for Outside and National Geographic, as well as Professor Jon Coleman from Notre Dame University, an expert on wolves in American culture. Various Native American voices are also included, providing perspectives that span ecology, conservation, and the historic relationship between indigenous peoples and the land.
