Building Connections for Challengers: Apps Presents BRAVE Connect Networking Event #002

On August 28th, the Apps company hosted the second installment of the BRAVE Connect networking event, designed to create a platform for challengers to connect and share their experiences. The event took place at the stylish cafe lounge of Univpaycast's Tokyo headquarters in Roppongi, gathering passionate individuals eager to inspire and motivate one another.

This event was anchored by the powerful theme, "Only those who have dared can stand here," resonating deeply with the participants, many of whom have faced significant challenges in their careers and lives. The special guest for the evening was none other than Shimayas, a notable figure known for his role as the former Design Manager at Yahoo! JAPAN. Currently, he shares his insights and experiences as an author and prominent Voicy personality.

Guest Speaker: Shimayas

Shimayas has not only made a mark in the design world but is also applauded for his book, Design Doesn’t Need Sense published by KADOKAWA. Through various platforms such as Voicy and public speaking engagements, he shares extensive practical knowledge about design thinking and career development. His presence at BRAVE Connect was aimed at showcasing how he transformed his path from being a university dropout to reaching a pivotal role in design management.

Shimayas delivered a mini-seminar titled, "From University NEET to Yahoo! Design Manager: Why 'Me Without Sense' Attracted Opportunities" that resonated with the crowd and encouraged authentic sharing of challenging narratives. Many in attendance found great value in his journey, seeing it as a source of motivation and inspiration to pursue their own unique paths.

MC: Kubo - The Life Advocate

The event was masterfully directed by Kubo, a remarkable individual who continues to fight stage 4 gastric cancer while positioning himself as a life activist. Through his advocacy efforts on social media, Kubo works to connect people and foster a community around shared experiences of challenge and resilience. His passionate approach provided a framework for fostering deeper connections among attendees, while encouraging everyone to take the next step in their own journeys.
