Exploring the Cultural and Industrial Bonds Between Hangzhou and Paris
Paris and Hangzhou are two cities that, despite the vast distance that separates them, have long shared an intriguing connection. This shared affinity was vividly showcased during the recent Hangzhou Promotion Event, held on the scenic banks of the Seine, where cultural heritage met industrial innovation.
The event was co-hosted by the Hangzhou International Communication Center (HZICC) and the Linping District International Communication Center, under the captivating theme "Civilization Dialogue From Cultural Heritage to Industry Narrative." The meeting presented an opportunity to highlight Hangzhou's rich history while confidently paving the way towards a future filled with potential.
Transitioning from a focus on ancient roots, HZICC emphasized the importance of forging industrial alliances. Ji Tao, the center's operational director, eloquently articulated, "Hangzhou is turning its industrial strengths, innovation vitality, and city stories into a global narrative that can be felt, understood, and shared." This statement set the tone for the discussions that followed, which delved into the ways these two cities could collaborate going forward.
Corporate representatives enthusiastically turned this narrative into tangible strategies. For instance, Cainiao Global Supply Chain exhibited their advancements, managing to shorten delivery times between China and France to just three days. Additionally, AliExpress emphasized the growing trend towards localization and the impact of EU tax reforms driving premium brands to establish local warehouses. The collaboration between E-Fashion Town and the Institut Français de la Mode was also highlighted, showcasing a partnership that has flourished over a decade with various international brands.
Moreover, CFMOTO outlined how Chinese powersport brands are not only competing but actively leapfrogging their competition through cutting-edge technology and strong branding strategies. As Charles-Emmanuel Dewees, founder of the NICE Cultural Exchange Platform, stated, "Can web novels become a shared language? Absolutely. When language isn't a barrier, what touches your heart is the common language." This sentiment resonated with many participants and presenters during the event, emphasizing the emotional bonds that can transcend linguistic differences.
The cultural exchange was accompanied by a vibrant exhibition booth showcasing Hangzhou’s unique offerings. Attendees had the chance to admire mortise-and-tenon building block models, celadon tea ware, and the charming city mascots, among other cultural and creative products. French visitor Hugo Nicoli, who once enjoyed tea on Hangzhou's serene West Lake, expressed enthusiasm about returning to China with his family after encountering the exquisite porcelain and architectural miniatures showcased at the exhibition.
However, the Hangzhou Promotion Event was just the launchpad for deeper connections. The HZICC team dedicated four days to film various experiences in Paris, including product selections inside Tmall Global offices, parcel sorting at a Cainiao warehouse, as well as test-driving vehicles at CFMOTO stores, and exploring fashion at the MEILLEUR MOMENT boutique. These gathered stories along the Seine were then poised to travel back to the Grand Canal in Hangzhou, further intertwining the narratives of both cities.
Through such initiatives, the cities of Hangzhou and Paris aim to strengthen their ties not only culturally but also through shared economic goals. The distance that separates them serves only to enrich their collective stories, as they embark on a journey of collaboration and mutual understanding, connecting across waters and unveiling a vibrant future for both cities.
