Sunrise Energy Metals Doubles Scandium Resources

Sunrise Energy Metals Limited recently announced an impressive upward revision to its Mineral Resource Estimate for the Syerston Scandium Project, located in New South Wales, Australia. The new estimates reveal a remarkable increase in contained scandium metal, vital in various advanced technologies, amidst reported supply shortages in the rare earth elements sector.

Significant Resource Increase

The newly updated resource estimate shows a global resource of 19,007 tonnes of contained scandium, marking a 98% increase compared to previous figures. This new resource is categorized mainly under `Measured and Indicated` categories, with more than 90% falling into these classifications. Notably, the high-grade resource has also seen a dramatic increase to 1,155 tonnes, which is 161% higher than earlier estimates, demonstrating an average grade of 665 g/t. This significant uptick is the result of a focused step-out drilling campaign at the site.

Market Dynamics Influencing Supply

The backdrop against which these resource updates are occurring is particularly critical. The global market for scandium has grown increasingly tight, primarily due to China's export licensing restrictions that took effect in April 2025. This has raised prices and emphasized the need for reliable sources of the metal as demand continues to rise, particularly in industries focusing on energy and advanced manufacturing.
