University Credit Union Celebrates New Beginnings with Open House

University Credit Union (UCU) is proud to announce a special Open House event slated for April 22-25, 2025, at their newly branded banking hub, "ACU Credit Union powered by UCU". This initiative invites students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members alike to experience the new and improved services available after the merger with Abilene Christian University Credit Union.

The week-long festivities, designed to honor the legacy of ACU Credit Union, will feature various activities, food, and entertainment, marking a significant moment for both the credit union and its community. According to Estela Nagahashi, Interim CEO of UCU, the Open House provides a unique opportunity to celebrate what ACU Credit Union has represented and to introduce the exciting resources now available to the ACU community.

The event will kick off on Tuesday, April 22, from 11 AM to 3 PM with an engaging celebration that includes food trucks, games, music, and a host of giveaways. Attendees can look forward to the unveiling of a special commemorative safe deposit box, which pays tribute to ACU CU's history. ACU leadership and UCU executives will share remarks during this important gathering, and photo opportunities with ACU's beloved mascot, Willie the Wildcat, will add to the festivities.

In addition to the kickoff, the Open House will feature daily giveaways, such as free Summermoon Coffee on Wednesday, tacos from Tacolote on Thursday, and raffle prizes announced on Friday. This event is particularly special as it aligns with Sustainability Week and Purple Friday at ACU, further enhancing the community spirit.

New members, especially those linked to the ACU community or Texas residents, will benefit from a $300 promotion when they open an account and meet the specified criteria. This initiative is aimed at welcoming new members and allowing them to enjoy the extensive benefits of UCU’s innovative financial offerings.

The merger between UCU and ACU Credit Union, completed on February 1, 2025, signals a new era, enriching the service offerings and accessibility for their combined member base.
